My heart goes out to all of you who have had your race events cancelled or postponed β€οΈ
It's perfectly OK to feel sad about it, but I hope you will continue to reap the benefits of all the hard work you have put in, and look to the future!
If you have not done so already, please have a read of our information posts. We have shared some superb ideas about what to do if your race is cancelled or postponed πππ
Sorry about all those sporting events being cancelled because of the coronavirus, I am on the way back from my 17th parkrun, great atmosphere, however, many of the people I met think it could be the last run for a while because of the virus
Ach it's all pretty rubbish, but glass half full and all, I wonder if there will be a flurry of autumn events this year as all the tshirts and medals are already made up! Could be a cracking end of year for everyone π Keep running pals! By the time the races start up again you'll be SUPER FIT and there will be smiley faces and PBs galore.
My heart goes out to everyone whose target events have or are about to be cancelled. I was really looking forward to being able to run HMβs again when my recovery programme finishes by the end of this month, having been in virtual isolation myself from most group running activities since the beginning of February. Looks like weβll have to find our own solo runs until the autumn maybe? Hoping that some of the smaller events are able to continue though.
Yes, sobering stuff. The race fee refund thing had already crossed my mind as Iβd written if off after I paid it. At least it would still go to a good cause.
I do feel for Bath. Theyβre being absolutely panned on FB. It must be so hard for all the organisers. I for one wonβt be requesting a refund as itβs my choice not to run. I wouldnβt mind my bling though if I send my proof of HM distance run tomorrow. π π
Great link! Hastings Half is cancelled as of this morning. We've all been offered free entry next year but I would like them to keep my fee as the event raises a lot of money for charity. I won't miss what I've already paid and am hoping that when the dust settles a bit they will give us this option x
I am quite surprised it's still going ahead to be honest Cheeky. The race director of Hastings is in the same running club as me and on Wednesday it was all still going ahead. They obviously feel there's been a significant enough change in the situation (I don't really watch TV or listen to radio news so I'm always playing catch up a bit!) as there's no way he would cancel lightly x
While washing the car and thinking about a trot I thought about EKβs Nike shoesπ€
There is one circumstance that would result in a purchase of them for me,if I knew I was going to succumb to any circumstance soon, just think of going out in a shroud and these shoes.π₯
What a way to go.ππ₯βοΈππ
Sorry Abi do not mean to be insensitive,
love your positivity and I just need a laugh.ππ€£πͺπ
Thanks Abi, thought of you yesterday afternoon as the news came in. Ours was cancelled this morning, not even postponed which is quite galling. Weβve had a post parkrun discussion about it and decided to do it anyway and find a virtual run so we can still get some bling. The only thing is that having to wear the hydration vest will mean the charity is covered up on my top, but thereβll be no one to see it anyway.
Keep going everyone and stay safe, you know it makes sense xxx
In the end I think the cancellation of the London marathon was a relief...it was the ongoing uncertainty which was so draining and demoralising. So whilst Iβm ver sad not to be running my first marathon 3 days before my 63rd birthday! I will be running it 161 days after my 63rd birthday or 206 days before my64th. But whatever I will be running it. BUT will have to miss the Cardiff HM βΉοΈ Stay safe and keep running x
My heart goes out to everyone who put so much work into their training plans but like Squeak says, it may mean a flurry of fall and winter events and bling. Weβll just have to see. In the meantime virtual races, and maybe some solo runs through beautiful places will need to sustain us. As long as we have perspective and be kind to one another, I believe we can get through all of this.
