Tagging people I know are entered, for info ... thanks Joster
Main issue from my point of view is the event goes ahead but no bag drop. I donโt have any spectators coming!
I'm going on my own too. I'm driving and parking about 15 min walk away from the start, so at least I can leave stuff in the car if necessary. I'm happy to hold on to stuff for other people too, but it's a bit of a nightmare with such different start times. I have an official 10.10 start time.
My problem too. I canโt travel across London without a jacket after getting hot then chilled. I can put everything else in my hydration vest/backpack
Thanks for tagging me Linda. Blimey - no bag drop would be a bit annoying, especially given that we may be soaking wet at the end of the run! ๐ฆWe are travelling up on the train to Waterloo. I shall be keeping my fingers crossed that the forecast improves a little and that the bag drop goes ahead but at least this gives me a chance to think about the logistics if I have to travel light!๐ค๐
Staying positive...eyes firmly on the prize!๐ ๐
Fingers crossed indeed! I'll be parked between StJames Park and Green Park if all goes to plan. It's about 15 min walk from the finish line so I will leave plenty of warm stuff in there, but it will be a cold walk to the car!
I'll just have to go clothes shopping afterwards!๐๐คฃ
Why didnโt I think of that?!?!? ๐๐๐
Yes I thought that, though I really canโt afford it
Thank you Linda I hadnโt spotted the latest update... all I can think is... FFS!
My first big race experience is giving me enough to think about without the added hit of no bag drop ๐ซ๐ซ๐ซ
At least they will confirm the situation by Friday evening so it gives us a day to prepare whatever we need to prepare... ugh!
Looking at their responses on fb it looks as if they are trying to sort an alternative for bags. I guess they're setting expectations for change ...
Iโm staying the night with my running companion. Really donโt want to go all the way back to her house for my things so am planning how to travel super light and have my warmest coat (which scrunches down to nothing) in a small back pack. I reckon I can do it. Bank card, car key, toothbrush, snacks and warm top and coat hat and gloves for the finish. Will take something to wear at the start and dispose of it.
Lots of moaning on fb about the idea of no bag drop, especially given the cost of the event facebook.com/pg/WinterRunUK... From the replies it sounds like they are likely to get some sort of bag drop in place, but are trying to minimise the number of people they have to accommodate with bags by putting out the sort of message they have.
My weather app says Saturday overnight minimum temp 8โc and Sunday maximum temp 14โc. Iโm amazed we are still going to get disruptive weather despite these very favourable temperatures! Although London has its own microclimate we might not get is as bad as the rest of the country. Letโs keep our fingers crossed everything turns out OK. Weather reports change daily
Oh dear it now has a name!!! โStorm Ciaraโ and they are calling today the Calm before the storm ๐ข๐ข๐ข
I guess you've all seen the LWR cancellation email, but tagging you just in case

Cheers Linda - just saw the message. What a shame for all the participants, the organisers and mostly the charity. My train line has already posted that they may not run many trains on Sunday and if the wires come down they wonโt be fixed until Monday so getting home couldโve been interesting!!
I'm sure they haven't taken the decision lightly. I have to say I'm not too disappointed - it wasn't going to be the fun event I had been looking forward to - and don't have the complication of having fundraised either. I've even managed to cancel my parking space with a full refund. Next year though. Next year ๐โ
Thanks Linda, yes I had seen the email. Disappointing๐ but sort of expected - it better be "blowing a hoolie" on Sunday now!๐จ๐ง๐จ
Gosh - can you imagine if it passes us by - that would be awful for everyone involved. I think it's the only fair decision though from a volunteer viewpoint; it would've been awful for marshals and the like and I wonder how many might just not have shown up for all sorts of reasons.
I agree and do understand their decision. I shall be out running my 10k somewhere this weekend ๐จ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธand grabbing a screenshot for my bling! Personally, I'd be happy with my entry fee going to charity anyway- this was nobody's fault. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Me too - if it goes to charity! Generally none of the entry fees go to charity. I read somewhere what it paid for and it was all organisational stuff. Of course in this case maybe they will get it back from their own insurance and could then maybe pay it to charity. That would be good.
Oh, that's interesting - will wait and see what more info we get from them...
Hi. I was also going to run tomorrow. Such I shame; I was looking forward to the carnival atmosphere, so Iโm quite gutted. And feel so bad for all the organisers.
Two personal consolations though...
1. I did my 10k today while sun was shining, so I can claim a medal.
2. I raised over ยฃ400 for CRUK.
