I really hate colds...

I had to cancel my last run of this week because my cold got worse on Thursday. I woke up at 5AM with really bad earache after a really broken night, feeling so congested. I couldn't get back to sleep so after an hour of just laying there I just got up and did some work. My next run was meant to be on Friday the day after, but if feeling lightheaded for about minute after every time I sneezed, I dread to think how I would have felt if I did go for my usual Friday run! Feeling much better than I did so back to training I go tomorrow! I'm feeling a lot less stressed about running a half marathon now that I've got my new and updated plan!

Also, does anyone have any experience with running and fasting? My church is holding a day of fasting on Wednesday which I am taking part in but I'm wondering how it all fits in with my running. I don't think it will be a good idea to run on Wednesday and then go straight into a whole day of fasting and I don't want to run on Thursday, because all I will have on Thursday morning before my run is a banana and I'll imagine I will still be feeling a bit weak from not having anything to eat the day before. So my current plan is the run Monday and Tuesday morning, don't run on Wednesday and Thursday and then run my normal long run on Friday. If anyone has experience of this and has any advice about navigating fasting and running, please let me know! πŸ˜ƒ

Hahaha no worries! I have heard that running in a fasted state is good training for long race because it trains your body to use your other energy stores when you've run out in your glycogen stores. I've run and cycled without any food in the tank by accident before and they were both horrible experiences with I don't particularly want to repeat...

I ran on empty once. I planned to run 5k but forgot πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ and keep running. I had nearer to 10k before my kegs completely failed me. I felt lousy I’ve not made that mistake again No fasted runs for me, no siree bob πŸ˜ƒ

Set yourself up for a run πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Yes exactly! I went for a whole day eating hardly anything and then went on a 13 mile bike ride in the evening! All the while I couldn't get into my cycling groove and I only realised until near the end that I wasn't feeling it because I was running on empty! I'm definitely not running during my fast. πŸ˜ƒ
