Well, it's another week of slightly fraudulent posting from me as I've quite simply not run for ages. I was exceedingly poorly before and over Christmas, then had a horrible time in the New Year where I had to say goodbye to my beautiful cat of sixteen years and cried for about a week solid (devastated π₯), and now in a more cheerful but unexpected twist I have somehow adopted a tiny, grubby kitten which is asleep on my shoulder as I write this--even though I said it was definitely too soon. So getting back to running (and Adriene's yoga) is still waiting for me, and that's ok!
How are things with you?
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion! If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Don't forget, if you have an event coming up this month (or any changes to one you've mentioned before) let us know in the sticky post! πππ
Aw thatβs so sad about your much loved cat. I do sympathise with you. I had two adored cats who died years ago but I still think of them often and miss them. They leave such a poignant memory behind. But a kitten! Adorable. Bet he/she is being spoiled rotten.
Iβve just read a book for our book club called A Man Called Ove which featured a cat and it was hilarious. Cat lovers would really appreciate the antics. Oops, this is not at all running related......
The running has been going well, training still on track and Iβm back to Reformer Pilates and the gym. The first gym session was a bit of a shocker though as I hadnβt been for ages what with Christmas and so on and two days later I was feeling it π«
Have a good week everyone and to those on the IC, Iβm sending you healing vibes πββοΈππ
Ah, the wonderful 'Cat Annoyance' if I remember rightly? Great book. Strangely, I have my very own 'cat annoyance' at the moment in the form of my black cat Nelson, who keeps leaping for my fingers as I type this on the iPad - bless!ππΊ. Sounds like you're working hard IP!
So sorry to hear about the bad times. Congratulations on the new kitten! Not much to report, other than my feeling confident that I'm on the mend now. I managed 3 runs last week, and did my best parkrun in a long time.
So sorry to read about your cat, Sqkr. Good luck with your new little fellow - they have a way of coming in to our lives when we need them, I think.π I am sure you will soon feel ready to pick up your running again, too.π
All good here - trying to run at least three times a week and also fit in my bridges, clams and a little cross training (on exercise bike). I have also taken the plunge and entered my second Half Marathon this weekend too - Run Gatwick HM in May.π±π Nice to have a goal and plenty of time to build up my distance. Happy running everyone and healing vibes to all on the injury Couch.
That sounds like a tough 'festive season' Squeak; I don't really 'get' cats, but I know it must be hard to lose a cat after 16 years if you do get cats! Have fun with the latest addition to your family.
I've had a pretty good week with all planned activities taking place (though not necessarily when they were planned to), a 10k PB and my foot seemingly coping (so far). Will try for an 18k run this coming week - wow, nearly there, can't quite believe it. A week skiing next week so that will give me a reset week (although there is a vague possibility of a treadmill in the hotel we've booked π€). Have a great week everyone, whether it's running or healing.
Oh wow... sadness and joy... lucky small kitten ! xx
I am happier this week.... finally risked a run yesterday... only to be defeated by the ice.. so the steadiest and slowest of 30 minutes on my treadmill.... it went well... hamstring seemed good...
-2 again today, so inside again... 10/20 minute workouts with Body Fit with Amy... hard work and felt good...Standing Abs no crunch workout...Full body dumbbell workout...Low impact leg work out..
Hoping to get outside Thursday.... workout days with small runner in training tomorrow and Wednesday!
Sorry about your beloved cat π. We love them so much donβt we, and feel it so hard when we have to say goodbye. Itβs understandable that youβre bereft. The house seems so still doesnβt it. π
Your new cat will help Iβm sure π
I ran yesterday, gingerly on the icy roads and paths. Enjoyed it though as it was very bright out. Just went very steady.
Been out again today for a 17k slow run. Wore my merino boxers and many-pocketed Kalenji trail tights so I could stash my energy bars, big hankie, phone blah blah It was still icy in places, despite heading out a bit later. I walked a bit while eating my snacks, and chatted to a few walkers π. I enjoyed it but felt a bit stiff. I blame the strength stuff I did the other day - Burpees with 180 degree twists π. Saw some lovely birds, and catkins!
I think my running week is a bit full on, having quickly scanned my plan. I noticed an 18k on Sunday, plus a few others. Tomorrow is a benchmark run, which is very short π
So, itβs going ok and Iβve not missed any runs Hopefully the weather wonβt put the mockers on it
Aww Sqkr, Iβm sorry you were so unwell and Iβm sad about your darling cat. We get so attached donβt we? π You have a new kitten to love who obviously wonβt replace your sweet oldie in your heart, but youβll form a new brand new loving friendship. β€οΈ π±
Iβve been bumbling really. Last weekβs weather sucked and I did two treadmill sessions and an al fresco run instead of our cancelled PR on Saturday. Today I pootled around on a 7k trail run. Beautiful sunshine and I was happy to be out. πββοΈβοΈ Iβm aiming for 14-15k on Wednesday - and the weather looks to be ok so far. π€
That, plus Iβm one of the Yoga with Adriene crew. Day 19 today and there was a crow! Iβm bad at those, but I can momentarily take flight! Namaste! π§ββοΈ
Sqkr, I am so sorry to hear this. My cat died last year and I was heartbroken. Adopting a new one does give you some joy so Iβm glad you have the kitten. Cats are wonderful!
I'm doing the 30 day yoga.. But as u r I've not got very far, just completed day 1! I planned to do some this morning before work yet here I am sitting on my phone with a Coffe wondering if I should do it tonight. However I did enjoy the first one. I also do pilates once a week. Going to a class is fine it's the motivation to do stuff at home I lack.
I'm still running but a bit adhoc, I need to get a HM plan started.
I've signed up for a few events and pondering over a few more. I've also entered the ballot for the GNR(yikes).
I had my 50th parkrun a few weeks ago on my birthday (not far from 50π±π) and I've also eventually bit the bullet to join a local running group after thinking about it for way tooo long. We did some track work last week which was great, but the track was a bit slippy!
Thank you π
Happy running those that can and healing vibes to those that can't. Take it easy everyone and have a good week
Iβve had two head colds since The new year...blaming the littlest granddaughter! But head full of cotton wool and limited energy to run...week 15 of training plan gone to pot....panic! I know they say donβt run when not well but when does a few dats recovery start to impact on the master marathon plan. Feeling a little despondent!
Sorry to hear about your cat...15 years ago we lost our lovely 16 year old Tabby cat ... still miss her. Enjoy your kitten xx
