Abort mission - think on my feet ..... πŸ€”

I was looking forward to running at Eastville PR this morning. Beautiful crisp day, sunshine. Flossie excited about β€œstick Saturday” with her PR fans .... Parked up, began wandering over (happy the underpass wasn’t flooded, meaning the A course should be ok), but was headed off by a lady I knew. It had been cancelled! 😩 The paths were lethal apparently. 🧊

We walked back to our respective cars alerting all the throngs of runners en route. One lot were tourists and began frantically Googling nearby PRs which might be on that they could dash to. Ashton Court, Pomphrey Hill .... not sure what they decided, but I opted to go up to the Downs and take Flossie for a pootle around the grassy area.

As did the rest of Bristol it seemed! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

My road shoes were highly inappropriate as the grass was wet and soggy and also muddy in places, but I trotted a pleasing 6.5k which felt nice. What weather! 😍

Anyway guys, I hope you were all able to get out this morning if that was your plan. Stay safe and warm. πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ˜€

I was a very chilly timekeeper - think holding your phone and tapping for 720 runners with no gloves - but I did think the paths looked too slippy with frost for my liking. Glad you got out and found a great alternative run Cheeky 😍

Yes it must have been freezing standing around this morning Linda. πŸ₯Ά

I could possibly have made it to Ashton Court in time, but Flossie doesn’t enjoy running on the top path - it’s rocky and hurts her paws - so I thought the grass would be nicer for her! 🐾

Such a shame cheeky, but great that you still ran. Southsea was overly busy as a result of the lovely weather (sunshine and no wind).

We had over 600 runners again because so many of our nearest parkruns have become so muddy over recent weeks. It was cold ( no ice though) on arrival but my 2 layers were too warm once I started running . UTS was barcode scanning prior to dashing to London for hockey.

Glad you were able to run Dexy. I must admit I didn’t even consider ice as being as issue - even though my car door was frozen shut and my wipers wouldn’t wipe the first time I tried them! It would have been plain dangerous though - some of those paths don’t see sunlight until later and it wouldn’t have been worth the risk. πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά

Yes I was pleased to get my best time of the year, but it’s 2 mins away from my PB so I need to get out more than twice a week.

Maybe you need to put your trails in the boot, just in case, next week. Yes it has been so mild this winter, we’ve forgotten what ice and frost is like.

I saw my first daffodil out on the way home today.

Oh well done on your good time! πŸ‘πŸ‘ Perfect weather for running today - except for the darned ice!

Actually I do usually keep my trail shoes in the boot, but they had to come in to dry off a couple of weeks ago, and never made it back out again. Lesson learned today! πŸ™„

I had very numb toes marshalling at Burnham this morning but we had over 400 runners/walkers so it was worth it.

I must get up earlier and visit the Bristol runs one week :)

Well done for volunteering. At least running warms you up and is over quicker. But runners can’t do it without taking a share of the volunteer load.

Ahhh I visit Burnham fairly regularly and had half thought of coming down today. Shame I didn’t! πŸ™„πŸ˜…

Let me know if you come to Bristol. I count Eastville as my home PR, but Ashton Court is closer. I also do Severn Bridge quite a lot, although that was cancelled today too. Don’t know about Clevedon (I’ve been there too!) πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Given that a fall on ice got me into this running lark in the first place, I err on the side of safety! It is 1C overnight up here at the moment. I took my own decision that Park Run on it’s smooth hard surface might be lethal and did my long run up in the woods yesterday. Rest day today. Good that Flossie got her run; Molly and I are headed for the ice free beach πŸ– .

It was pretty slippy in places!

I know that it was cancelled a few weeks ago because of ice. Glad you remained an upright citizen! 😊

Smart move there BC. I must admit, before I met the lady I did think it was a bit dicey on the pavement. Our PR is 100% on paths, and with the hills it would have been irresponsible running it today. Hopefully people understood.

Glad you ran yesterday and I hope you and Molly enjoy the beach! Flossie liked her run today - she soon got over PR being off! 🐾🐾

Dogs are easy; a bit of attention coupled with a walk makes everything better!

It’s me who ran with Flossie Baddie! But yes, it was a good substitute run. Trail shoes would have been better, but any run is better than no run! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Disappointing Cheeky, but us runners always have a plan B up our sleeve (or whichever piece of kit we're wearing this week !). Sounds fun even if the shoes took a beating. Lakeside was muddy but the puddles were a bit smaller than a few weeks ago!

Definitely Jonathan. No way was I going straight home. I had my kit on and an eager Labrador to exercise! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ•πŸΎπŸ‘

Oh yes it was Lexi. It’s been so dull and grey the last week or so, so seeing the sunshine today was a real treat. β˜€οΈ πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸΎπŸ•
