We walked back to our respective cars alerting all the throngs of runners en route. One lot were tourists and began frantically Googling nearby PRs which might be on that they could dash to. Ashton Court, Pomphrey Hill .... not sure what they decided, but I opted to go up to the Downs and take Flossie for a pootle around the grassy area.
As did the rest of Bristol it seemed! πββοΈππββοΈππββοΈππββοΈππββοΈππββοΈππββοΈ
My road shoes were highly inappropriate as the grass was wet and soggy and also muddy in places, but I trotted a pleasing 6.5k which felt nice. What weather! π
Anyway guys, I hope you were all able to get out this morning if that was your plan. Stay safe and warm. ππββοΈππ

I was a very chilly timekeeper - think holding your phone and tapping for 720 runners with no gloves - but I did think the paths looked too slippy with frost for my liking. Glad you got out and found a great alternative run Cheeky π
Yes it must have been freezing standing around this morning Linda. π₯Ά
I could possibly have made it to Ashton Court in time, but Flossie doesnβt enjoy running on the top path - itβs rocky and hurts her paws - so I thought the grass would be nicer for her! πΎ
Such a shame cheeky, but great that you still ran. Southsea was overly busy as a result of the lovely weather (sunshine and no wind).
We had over 600 runners again because so many of our nearest parkruns have become so muddy over recent weeks. It was cold ( no ice though) on arrival but my 2 layers were too warm once I started running . UTS was barcode scanning prior to dashing to London for hockey.
Glad you were able to run Dexy. I must admit I didnβt even consider ice as being as issue - even though my car door was frozen shut and my wipers wouldnβt wipe the first time I tried them! It would have been plain dangerous though - some of those paths donβt see sunlight until later and it wouldnβt have been worth the risk. π₯Άπ₯Ά
Yes I was pleased to get my best time of the year, but itβs 2 mins away from my PB so I need to get out more than twice a week.
Maybe you need to put your trails in the boot, just in case, next week. Yes it has been so mild this winter, weβve forgotten what ice and frost is like.
I saw my first daffodil out on the way home today.
Oh well done on your good time! ππ Perfect weather for running today - except for the darned ice!
Actually I do usually keep my trail shoes in the boot, but they had to come in to dry off a couple of weeks ago, and never made it back out again. Lesson learned today! π
Ahhh I visit Burnham fairly regularly and had half thought of coming down today. Shame I didnβt! ππ
Let me know if you come to Bristol. I count Eastville as my home PR, but Ashton Court is closer. I also do Severn Bridge quite a lot, although that was cancelled today too. Donβt know about Clevedon (Iβve been there too!) πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Given that a fall on ice got me into this running lark in the first place, I err on the side of safety! It is 1C overnight up here at the moment. I took my own decision that Park Run on itβs smooth hard surface might be lethal and did my long run up in the woods yesterday. Rest day today. Good that Flossie got her run; Molly and I are headed for the ice free beach π .
Smart move there BC. I must admit, before I met the lady I did think it was a bit dicey on the pavement. Our PR is 100% on paths, and with the hills it would have been irresponsible running it today. Hopefully people understood.
Glad you ran yesterday and I hope you and Molly enjoy the beach! Flossie liked her run today - she soon got over PR being off! πΎπΎ
Itβs me who ran with Flossie Baddie! But yes, it was a good substitute run. Trail shoes would have been better, but any run is better than no run! ππ
Brilliant plan B! Well done to you and thank you BaddieThePirate for your error which prompted Cheeky's reply and gave me a π€£ moment. I love to laugh!
Disappointing Cheeky, but us runners always have a plan B up our sleeve (or whichever piece of kit we're wearing this week !). Sounds fun even if the shoes took a beating. Lakeside was muddy but the puddles were a bit smaller than a few weeks ago!
