My Stripped Down Trotting Marathon Plan.

Sorry for posting so soon again but I just want to thank the forum for getting me into this position and onto the marathon build up starting line.

I have repeated the C25k programme for a third time and spent a few extra weeks on consolidating a 5k trot or 50 mins of trotting.Spent some time weekly on GFI6 and a few tempo runs.Although I have had to fight off two seperate head cold episodes and a painful rotator cuff I am very happy to have this solid base to progress from.

With the help of the forum and yesterday’s post I have a bespoke stripped down trotting training plan that is simple and flexible as I progress through it.

The elements are just three, max, long easy distance build up trot, a 5k tempo run and if convenient continue 6 mins of sprinting as per GFI6 programme. So GFI6 is the first thing to go if not convenient.Dropped the gym almost 12 months ago and I suppose my strength work became gardening.

Keeping the other two mandatory trots weekly, but initially may juggle them with a two day repair between them.As it builds up definitely not,I will go with weekly.

I have deliberately not detailed out a programme because I am applying the 10% adaption build up rule so my easy trotting run will just grow by 10 mins or 1k, then 15mins or 1.5k, then 20 mins or 2k increments as I build from one hour to 6.5 hours trotting time.

At best and only for planning,a 10 min/km trotting pace equates to a 7 hour marathon for me.

Because of the duration and when I did my only HM and cut training off at 15k.Plan to do the same, but too far out now.

I have ticked off week 1 and Long Trot 1,6k and 60mins.The stake is in the ground , so only 30 trots remaining.Just a little more than the 27 required for C25k.

It’s simple and flexible and perhaps only manageable because I have come through bridge and an HM previously well almost 18 months ago.

I am going to have to contain my enthusiasm and keep off the IC.Thanks to the forum I have gained such a lot in that department also.

As a novice the knowledge required is daunting and I am just so pleased I have got something that may get me direct to goal and across the line and be able to tick that box.

I am not building a marathon body, and it is a once in a lifetime 7 hour trot. This programme is only appropriate for this application.

Onwards and Onwards I will suck it and see.

Go the magic forum.

Good luck with your plan Tbae...did you get help for that rotator cuff injury, I hope it's manageable now and you can sleep and run without it bothering you.

This looks amazing. You’re so organised and methodical. Im following your email plan with interest.

Hope the rotator cuff thing is better too. I had a touch of that during Oxford half. Never happened before or since and I put it down to hand holding a water bottle for that duration

Ah thanks Flick.❤️

I hold my phone in my left hand and no problem.Weirdly it is my right shoulder and holding nothing.🙈Think all the one finger txt not helping.🙈🤔🤣🤣.But I have calcification in all my joints picked up with a MRI scan in my C1& C2.

But since I started running two years ago it keeps pseudo gout episodes in check. Not one in two years and no Tramadol/Naproxen/and other pain relief stuff required. So that is an amazing result for me and a credit to the magic forum.

Keep well Flick and keep on keeping on and be easy on yourself.
