I would like to announce we have added a new badge to our list - the Metric Marathon badge!!!
This is for those of you who have run an actual metric marathon race, or have run 26.2 kilometres in training.
There are not many official metric marathon races out there yet, but we feel that this would be an excellent milestone for those of you who are training for a full marathon, or who would prefer not to run as far as a full marathon but would like the extra challenge!
Enjoy πππ

Yay! I feel a new goal coming on .... I can't enter the Chester one this year because of my deferred Oxford half ... but an HU virtual badge would be a good incentive π
Great idea, I think a lot of people who don't fancy a full marathon but have done a half will be tempted by this...which I'm sure is your cunning plan! π
I can only see a full and a half marathon on there. It says entrants can carry on past the half marathon point if they wish, but they only record times for half and full.
Yes thatβs what it says, but I was scrutinising the map and figured out theyβd plotted a route between the HM point and full Marathon finish - a shortcut shown in green, with mile markers - which looks like a metric marathon. Iβll give it a go on my next long run and report back!
So they have! Looks as though you can collect a half marathon medal and official time, and then add on the extra few kms. Do you know if it's chip timed? I can't see anything about that.
I think itβs gun timing only, and not UKA certified, so the result wonβt βcountβ, but that takes the pressure off. Theyβre pretty relaxed about switching between HM and full distance π
ooh, for a woman training for her first marathon who has just crossed the HM distance threshold, this is exciting indeed! I will hold that thought in my head as my long runs increase over the next few weeks. It will - fingers, toes and eyes crossed - be three weeks until I hit my 17 mile long run and can claim that badge.
