(I asked Google images for 'Christmas runners' ๐คฃ)
Hello everyone!
Hope everything is going to plan.
Just a quick post this week - I almost forgot it was Tuesday among all the festive baking today!
How's the training going? Hopefully you had some respite built into your plan so you can make the most of this time off work (with apologies here to anyone who IS still working over the festive period). Whatever running you have planned, I hope it's festive and fun! I've a 5K on Boxing Day to look forward to (the only day with rain forecast for the next two weeks ๐) and I can't wait having had just over a week off running.
Let us know how things are going below. Any triumphs? any concerns? anything you're leaving behind in 2019? anything you're taking with you to 2020?
Whatever you're doing, have fun, take care, enjoy the runs and a very happy Christmas to everyone ๐
Haha ๐๐ I love some of the stuff that Mrs Google throws up. I once googled a bed company called Seventh Heaven but instead got a rather sleazy looking โgentlemanโs clubโ ๐ฎ๐
I had a sneaky run this morning and am planning to get out on Boxing Day but I doubt Iโll get the long runs in until next week, but letโs see.
A very Happy Christmas everyone and hereโs to a joyful, injury-free 2020 for all of us ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐ x
Google isn't wrong, defo a Christmas runner ๐ฆ๐
A couple of runs a week has been my limit at this busy time but I'm not back in work until the 2nd Jan (yay!) so hoping to get some decent runs in before then and take advantage of the fact that I can run in the daylight!
Happy Christmas and a Runtastic New Year to all ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐
Iโll be leaving behind marathon running for 2020. It doesnโt suit me and I take too long to recover. Going to focus on 5k up to HM and hope I can get my pace back one day and get some PBs. Iโd do a marathon again - Manchester possibly 2021, once Iโve had time to get stronger.
Iโll take my HOKAs with me though - Iโm in love with them. Theyโve totally fixed my knee issues and are boing boing comfy! Iโll also take a bit more trail with me in the future - now that my knees allow it.
Iโd love to meet up with my VRBs pianoteacher and Ripcurlrana71 one day ๐
Happy Christmas everyone and all the best for 2020 Xx
How great to have the choice of distance though! I just bought a pair of Hokas - see if the cushioning will help with my stupid foot. Not tried them yet, though I might wear them onBoxing Day for an inaugural 'boing' through the woods ๐
Omg theyโre the best thing ever - so boingy ๐ฆ but you mightnโt get away with the low drop which is apparently good for knees and hips but not so good for ankles and feet. ๐ค๐ฝ for you! I really hope you like them.
It was the shop that recommended them given my history. They said the rocker action meant the drop shouldn't be an issue. Time will tell! As you say, ๐ค
Got out of work early to day and as a result I ran a practice half marathon so pleased in a nice time for a 58 year old you only started C25K in January 2019 and graduated in March 2019. Good luck everyone running this week.
Wow. Fantastic progress! Would you like your half marathon badge now, having completed the distance? or did you want to wait until you'd run an official one? The choice is entirely yours ๐
Would love my badge as I have done the distance. I know I can do it now and wonโt be doing it again until the Vitality BigHalf in March 2020. Thank you.
Merry Christmas everyone! Iโm hoping to do a few parkruns over the Christmas and New Year break, and have 3 half marathons and a 20mile race in feb/march so will not be taking too much down time from running as Iโm in the middle of training for that. 2019 saw me complete my first marathon, and like Tasha, it took a lot out of me physically and mentally. Iโll maybe do another in 2021 but will mainly focus on 5k and HM distance next year (except for the 20 mile - donโt know why I signed up to that!!? ๐คฃ). Best wishes everyone ๐ ๐ผ
Merry Christmas all you HM training runners ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐๐๐
Iโm hopefully looking forward to a long run on Boxing Day if the weather allows (my towpath long run route might not be safe if the river is too high), otherwise Iโll need to wait until things dry up a bit. ๐ฆ
Much as I love the festive season, I do like routine and there wonโt be much of that for a couple of weeks. So when 2020 hits itโll be all systems back on track for my HM training. Iโm confident I can make the distance again for the Bath Half, but Iโd like to have more oomph in my legs in the closing few miles - so extra strength and flex training will be the order of the day. Bring it on! ๐ช
I'll be crying out for routine in another week too ๐. You'll definitely be ready for Bath half with oodles of oomph given your commitment to training, no doubt about it ๐
I am having a serious wobble about if I can really do the distance โน๏ธ Keep telling myself that I have done 16k, so I can do 17, and if I can do 17 etc, etc, till I reach the magic distance, I really want to do it, told anyone who will listen that I am going to do it, and getting ready to post on FB that I am asking for sponsorship for Setter Rescue and Rehome, but the gremlins are getting a hold , can someone fast approaching 70 , who started running a year ago really run a half . I cannot take too many risks that I get injured and then canโt walk the pups as there is only me. Sooo many gremlins ๐
Yes you can! But don't put too much pressure on yourself - the gremlins will have a feeding frenzy! Take your time and let yourself enjoy this journey. Maybe wait til you're closer still before asking for sponsorship?
Hello everyone, I havenโt done any long runs since the Great South Run in October, and in December have been down to 2 runs a week with parkrun being my main focus. So after, this festive eating, drinking frenzy it will be good to get back to a good routine and shift those extra pounds Iโve put on. Iโm not sure about long distance events yet, but I am booked for the vitality 10k at the end of May and Iโm sure something else will appear on the radar before then.
Hi everyone, sadly I was laid low by a cough and cold ๐คง๐ท๐คbefore Christmas so I couldnโt do much. I managed Bognor Parkrun on Christmas Day and yesterday though and Iโm on the mend๐
Iโm aiming to do 10K on Monday evening then double Parkrun on New Years Day at Lloyd park and South Norwood ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ After that itโs back to HM training in earnest if all goes to plan๐๐ค
Good luck, enjoy your running and Happy New Year to you all!๐พ๐ฅ๐๐๐
Late to the (Christmas) party yet again ๐คฃ That must be Rudolf the Red Nosed Runner Linda?
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and managed to get out. Fuelled by minced pies and trifle, Iโve run at home on Christmas Eve, North Wales on Christmas Day and a parkrun in Suffolk all in the last week. Nice to be home for the New Year celebrations and the NYD Double parkrun.
Personally, Iโm just hoping to crack that HM in 2020. All the very best to everyone for safe, wonderful runs and achieving your goals in 2020 ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐
