I discovered Komoot when I started cycling, and use it ALL the time. I plan routes in Komoot on my laptop, save them for offline use (for when GPS and mobile signal are both unavailable), then use the Komoot app on my phone to navigate the ride; in the app there's a full detailed map showing where you've been, where you are and where your planned route is, but best of all it gives voice navigation prompts just like a SatNav, so I don't have to get my phone out over and over again.
Today I used it in running mode. And I'll be using it again!!! In the park there were lots of path ways, some across fields which are not so obvious, and I did get in a muddle a couple of times until I'd had a look at the map; but for the rest of the run it was brilliant and I didn't have to get my phone out at all. I really love it for exploring new places and am very pleased to find it works just as well for running as cycling π. Worth a look if you like trying out new routes.
