I just signed up for a Half in March! Cancellation/refund terms and conditions are awful, hubbie rolled his eyes in a 'here we go again' sort of way and asked all sorts of awkward questions (including will it have any impact on the ski holiday he wants us to take in March ๐).
Being a superstitious soul, I feel like I might just have tempted fate ... but public places were selling out and as I'm fundraising for my ride in May I don't want to fundraise in March as well. Ah well. Airbnb booked too (cancellable at no charge up to two weeks before). So now to keep on being sensible and keep my fingers crossed that I can do it. As I said to OH, there's only one way I'm going to find out if my foot is up to another half or not .... ๐ค๐ค๐ค

Erm, is voyeurism the right word ๐ค An event gives you something to aim for with plenty of time so go for it!
I read it in the article Abi posted about flat lays! And there and then decided I'd had enough of getting excited about other people's races, I really wanted one of my own ๐๐๐
OMG! as the modern parlance goes. What does voyeurism mean other than something which could end in being brought before Bow Street Magistrates Court on a Monday morning?
Fingers crossed for you. Plenty of time to go slow and steady and knowing you want to do it will help you keep sensible as you build back up. Best of luck. Which one is it? ๐
Thanks. I will really try to train slowly, and maybe even run it slowly. Better to finish without a sore foot if at all possible! I don't think I dare say which event it is just yet ... it's my only bargaining tool with fate (the event which must not be named, and all that ๐)
I hope you have enough time - I've been on the IC for four months, so if you don't them I'm stuffed ๐. Isn't it great to be back out there? Take care though, you def don't want to miss LLHM through injury!
I guess it will be kill or cure! It's not particularly local to me, but it's in the town where my son is in his last year of Uni (the son that ran my first HM with me) and seems to be a reasonably popular one. I'm not going to name it just yet ... my rather pathetic attempt at not tempting fate too much!
Yay! ๐๐ Definitely a good idea signing up for an event Linda. Itโll make sure you train sensibly - the temptation of overdoing it with your foot could ultimately jeopardise your race, so youโll more than likely be uber careful to protect it. ๐
How exciting! Itโs also my first ever HM race in March too. Iโm doing Bath. ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐
It was less lovely to watch. I was braced, I knew it wasn't going to be an easy conversation. I needed his approval on the accomodation not his approval on the race entry ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Not booked skiing yet, but it will be before the race. Same thing happened last year too. Hubby asked if my foot goes again during training will it effect skiing? Ahh no, he quickly said - a ski boot is just like the orthopaedic boot ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Yikes!!! I must say since I started to run Iโve stopped certain activities because my priority is the running thing. I even think twice before wearing my usually much loved stilettos ๐
And I havenโt been skiing since I started C25K ๐
I'd rather not ski, but it's one of very few things that hubbie likes to do. It seems fair enough that I go with him (esp given all the time I spend running and cycling), tho last year I was absolutely terrified of injury and I'm sure this one will be no different.
If anyone can manage it, it's you. i have every faith in you xx
Aha! Fate rules my life. It's what makes it so unpredictable, challenging, rewarding ... It's why managing to take control occasionally always seems so amazing ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
You've got this ! I think you should have a look at doing a triathlon next year as well. I recommend Brighton, they have an early bird on at the moment ๐
I don't think that's going to happen. I dislike swimming too much. Buuuut ... I have made enquiries about a duathlon in Reading - it's super sprint so only 2 x 2km of running. The last one of their season is October 22 and I can leave it to the last minute to enter. So, if I can run that distance by then (and pluck up the courage), I may give it a go. It's very small - around 25 entries each month.
I did just get early bird entry to Kew 10k for next year tho ๐
I am a very new convert to swimming. When my legs are tired after running its nice to be able to go for a swim, I do a slow front Crawl, and barely move my legs, so they recover nicely. I think a lot of people are put off by the swim in Triathlons, to be honest I am surprised I actually like swimming now, its grown on me. Duathlon sounds good though? Also a cheeky Kew 10 k next year..!
