Just to mix things up a little I'll add a report for the Surrey Half.
To add a little context this was my first HM, first organised run of any sort for over 30 years.
Managed to develop a sore hip on Saturday, which was a new one on me, nothing too terrible.
The village at the beginning was lively and busy - but no real queues for anything important. Organisation getting to the start was decent, met a nice fella who'd done loads but was feeling a little broken from The Big Half the previous weekend.
I decided to keep the pace down, since it was my first time and I ran out steam on my practice the previous weekend - which if it taught me anything, it taught me that I can't just get out of bed and run 13 miles.
All went surprisingly well, even managed to smile for the camera, there was an out and back towards the end which did seem to go on forever.
All in all a really enjoyable event and the medal is really big! Would I do it again? Of course I would! I'm signed up for the Lydd 20 in March and am wondering if it's worth trying to get a couple of others in in between.

A first half marathon deserves a special badge, so Iβve just given it to you and you can wear it with pride π A big well done to you π
It sounds as if your first one went really well. You paced it well, you crossed the finish line, you smiled and you enjoyed it. Job done π
How is your hip now? I think there is such a thing as pre-race niggles. Iβve had so many just before race day but then they mysteriously disappear on the day never to be felt again! Whatβs that about? π€£
Great first HM race CB.You are clearly on a roll now. The main thing is to have fun; which includes finishing in one piece. The odd PB doesnβt come amiss, but they tend to put in an appearance when they feel ready! Superb running,
Wow, congratulations! What a fabulous achievement. Sounds like you've caught the bug!!! After my first half marathon, I did another two in the space of about 5 weeks. I thought I was invincible. Turns out I wasn't ... 5 minutes after crossing the finish line of number 3 I could barely walk. Turned out to be a stress fracture and I was off running for 5 months! I guess I was unlucky, but it's a cautionary tale all the same π. Still, there's an awful lot of time between now and March - I'm sure you'll find something (if you haven't already π)
Well done CosmicBuffalo , thatβs impressive indeed! I love and hate HMs in equal measure (mostly hate from 10 miles in!), but the bling makes it all worthwhile doesnβt it? Love yours! π
yay! Well done ππββοΈπ . Sounds like fun π. If the logistics go well then it makes the run so much easier as youβre relaxed going into it
