Phew! What a week! Busy at work, no time to run (this increased my stress levels!) and yesterday a very long day dropping my son off at University (freshers week). I have felt tired and a bit emotional all week - where would I find the energy to tick off my weekend 10k?
Kate Bush, of course! 'Hounds of Love' to start, on my earphones. Off on to the local bridleways and trails, cooler after this mornings rain with a gentle breeze and a grey sky overhead. The old railway line now scattered with leaves, acorns and sweet chestnuts - a squirrel dashing across in front of me, later a rabbit...and another! Another song ..."And dream of sheep", and there they are - in the fields I run past. I also realise that here I am, running to an album I bought when I was a Uni student (so many years ago!) and here it is again, thirty four years later - as my own son starts out on a new and exciting chapter!
It was a special run today - not a particularly fast one, but restorative and peaceful. My knee niggles minimal, happier in my Hoka running shoes and I returned home feeling calm and π!

Sorry to hear you had a stressful week but pleased that you were able to enjoy a peaceful run. I also run on an old railway track, with plenty of squirrels too which Squiggy loves to chase!
Ah, a peaceful and restorative run; how lovely after a hectic week, truly soothes the soul. This is a beautiful time of year to run, and I am glad to hear you had a good one! I occasionally run to that Kate Bush album too and it is one of my favourites! It is a proper concept album so you almost feel like you are running and listening to a story. I love Kate! x
