Planning on doing 5k and 10ks for a while. I run 3 times a week. What would be a good maintenance distance? I was thinking maybe a 5 and a couple of 7s. with the 5 I can work on pace a bit.

Thoughts please

How about a mixed plan?

Week 1 5k steady 7k slow 4k fast

Week 2 5k steady 8k slow 4k fast

Week 3 5k steady 10k slow or steady 4k slow/recovery.

Repeat.

Mix up the routes/terrain when you can.

That way you'll be very comfy at 5k, work on speed at 4k, and do a 10 every 3 weeks and build your stamina and endurance.

Always see how your body feels though. Some weeks you may not have the time or energy.

Quite like that, however I don't do anything fast! Maybe the fasts on a bit of interval training may be a good idea.

"Fast" can be interpreted any way you like, but it is to work on speed overall so whatever works for you. 👍🏻

Was being a bit tongue in cheek, let's just call it not as slow as normal!
