... you can see from the charts that I didn’t manage it. Blame the fact I got up at 4.30 after not enough sleep.
Out at 6.40 into a very very chilly morning. I wore long leggings and thermal top, and at no point was I too hot; in fact I spent five minutes wishing I’d worn gloves.
A waning gibbous moon above me and the bright, low sun dazzling me so that I could hardly see where I was running. It’s back to that what shall I put on to run time of year. Too cold for the first part of a run if you dress for warmth and too hot later if you are equipped for the cold, a lot of the time.
30 minutes in zone 4 was a big ask this morning. I managed it for 21 of the 30. I also spent 34 minutes in zone 3 when I shouldn’t have been in it at all.
This is all getting tediously hard and I shall be glad to start tapering. I told myself this morning to just do my best, and not worry if I didn’t hit the zone targets. I still think the psychology of the training plan is probably echoing race progress on the day of the half marathon. Kind of ... maybe ...
It would have been better if you had slept for at least two hours longer, if nothing else when you began the run the temperature would have been a little higher, yes, I do agree it's difficult to know what to wear, the minimum temperature is around sunrise so it will be quite cold then, but gradually the temperature will rise, so if you went your run say at 9 am you wouldn't need to dress for the cold, your doing well Flick in your progress for that HM.
I couldn’t get back to sleep, unfortunately, and there’s were still dogs to walk. And dishwasher man to install new dishwasher because the other one packed up 6 months after we bought the house!
Completely echoing your actual run. Well the tougher moments anyway, but you preserve through so you will be fine on the day. And on your actual run you can run how you feel. Tiredness makes heartrate training so hard too and I'm sure cold must affect it too! Not long left lovely xx
