Iβm quite tired too. I think this time of year, when the energies change and weβre gearing down towards winter, often catches people out. Weβll be alright once weβre past the equinox and have adjusted to shorter days and the lessening of sunlight.
Iβm glad you've got a physioβs appointment and hope they sort out those niggly physical things.
It wonβt last, these things go in cycles. Everybody gets these lows, but when weβre older, we attribute it to the ageing process and think itβs a sign weβre on the decline. You will come out the other side, I promise x
That is exactly what I am doing Flick.I am telling myself I am finished, time to review and curtail, seeing the mountain ahead just too big.ππ€.Save yourself, trim back, past pier stuff ringing in my ears.π.Then I hear other inspiritational people saying stop bending and pleasing others find yourself and other like minded people find your tribe, it all starts with movement.π€βοΈππ
Guys Iβve just had two low mileage weeks and itβs really helped me. Sometimes youβve got to listen to your body and slow down and cut back. This meant scrapping my training plan but it wasnβt working.
They say it's important to seek "failure" in order to learn and improve. I try (don't always succeed) not to see "failure" at all just new opportunities to find new ways of doing things or just improve.
Physio can be great, go easy on yourself ππ»π
Nope, remember pride goeth before a fall... so the further we reach... the further we can slide! π keep one foot on the ground and we might just be OK ππ»π
Bit of a change in the weather as the seasons change always has an effect on me. Mood dips, the sense of what seems possible decreases... running has really helped with levelling that out for me the last couple of years though. But itβs also always an effort to get through that first βgear shiftβ that I think Flick is referring to as well... βkeep on, keep on, itβll pass...β
On purely technical terms, havenβt you been doing quite a lot of short, very fast runs lately? Maybe ease off and slow down, bumble along and be more gentle on your body for a while? Enjoy the crisp Autumn mornings. Theyβre the absolute best!
The impact will be tough on the joints even if youβre being very careful with your warm-ups. That might account for the Achilles?
Itβs strange, I usually have a niggly right Achilles, but after my HM on Sunday itβs literally the ONLY part of my body that ISNβT aching! Go figure!
Look at any training plan and it will have recovery weeks built in when you cut back and do less so your system catches up before you start placing demands on it again.
Your body improves in response to overload. However, persistent overload will have the opposite effect.
Iβve had similar issues of late Tbae. I was really on the up working towards my HM distance and really feeling β in the zoneβ when I ran. Afterwards Iβve been in a slump, keep making excuses, feel tired and weary, not enough sleep, stiff neck since I ran the 21k too. I had tingly fingers when I ran the longer distances but thatβs cleared up now. But now I find I have to walk several times over a 3k run ( if I get that far!!). When I ran the 16 and 18k I ran continuously so whatβs that all about?
Think I need a plan to follow so Iβm going to go through Jujus Magic Plan to 10k again and go from there.
Hope you feel better soon and that the physio helps ( I have a sports massage on Friday morning which I cannot wait for π)
It can be a lonely place, fear of expressing your feelings and being a burden and stuff on others pleasure.
Easier said than done but we all have to be able to manage the lows and downtime.
Just a novice but so grateful I have posted on here.Really been dragging the chain this last couple of weeks.Conjured up a grand plan trying to lift myself,Think I just put more pressure on myself.
Pleased you are moving forward and enjoy your massage Friday.
Even the machine that is Tbae needs a break now and then. Take it as an opportunity to get in a little break before you continue on your running plans.
I usually like to get a few weeks non-running in around November, before stoking up the HM training in Decemeber.
All checked out fine.Did all the checks for neck and hands. No problems.Given my four exercises and generally 6 reps for each twice per day.But wants me to temper it with how I am feeling.Good and go for it.πππ.Basic stuff but he wanted to know everything I was upto.Very comprehensive.
Call anytime if not he will just discharge me in two months before I go off to Dubai. Perfect really.
Earlier this year with my Achilles problem,a practise physio said to me if I were a soldier and having to carry a substantial back pack I would send you for a procedure, but at your age, now 76, we do not want to mess around with you.π€ππ€£
