So excited to run in my new trail shoes that I overslept till 10.00. I think Monday’s HM and back to work has taken its toll on me this week. I’d intended to give myself a couple of days rest this week but even then when I awoke at 10.00!!!!! this morning, unheard of!!! I was still knackered.
I find that when I sleep in I ache more when I first get up too until I’ve showered and moved around a bit and today I felt like I’d run an Ultra yesterday 🤣🤣
So in my head I was doing the “ I could run this evening with Levi...”. “ I could leave it and do Park Run tomorrow...” “ it’s too warm for me”...
Well I should have listened to myself because after I eaten breakfast and let it settle for an hour I headed upstairs to shower and found myself putting on my running kit. I thought I’ll just go and run freerange to test the shoes.
**Loving the little bit in the tongue to tuck my bow into by the way. Wish that was on all running shoes.
Anyway it’s 11.15 by now and off I go, little breeze which is nice but still warmer than I like. I headed down towards the Ex-Servicemen’s Club and turned off where the road is a bit more up and down and ‘fieldsy’. I passed a grandad and small boy picking hazelnuts on the little bridge and remembered I’m supposed to be going picking with Rudi later- he’s seen some huge elderberries too apparently ( bet it’s sloes🤣). And I headed out towards to Cricket Club. Shoes are lovely - maybe a trifle heavier than my normal shoes but very comfy. I was a bit worried about whether they would slip as they were larger than normal but no problem there. The problem was me!!!
Had to stop and walk after 2 minutes!!!! Could not catch my breath... my watch said I was running at 7.00 m/k which is fast for me so I set off again and tried to slow down. This is why I run with music as I cannot pace myself without.
I’m ashamed to say I ran 1 only km, walked 4 times and then came home 🙄. But I DID test my shoes ✅ and I did talk to the nice grandad and little boy , (who is 6 next week and having a party at the servicemen’s club, he told me) and learnt that in 2 weeks times it’s chestnut picking time.
Maybe if I feel better tomorrow I’ll do ParkRun again. They forecast showers 😁 so should be cooler and I can wear my new trail shoes 👍.
