Not the news I wanted πŸ˜₯

Follow up appt at the fracture clinic today. Still no sign of healing on the x-ray. Consultant feels the pain is likely still the fracture not fully healed. Referring me for another MRI and then an appt back with him at the fracture clinic, 3 weeks after the MRI date whenever that will be. Given I will be away for two weeks in September, I don't see me running before October. It's already been over three months. Big sigh.

Sitting waiting while they fit two new tyres on my bike - they'll definitely be getting used πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

Pffft! Sorry to hear this, Linda. Must be so very frustrating. Sending a big hug of sympathy your way.

Maybe in the meantime you will become a pro-cyclist?! (I don't mean to make light of how you are feeling; I too would be gutted not to be able to run – but, please take heart – the cycling will definitely keep you fit until you can run again – I am so in awe of you continuing to focus on your fitness despite the foot set back). It is probably so hard to imagine right now, but the foot will heal, and you will run again. Until then, stay close to us, we will try and keep your spirits up. xxx

That sucks, sorry you didn't get good news today. At least you're staying fit and healthy while you're waiting, which is impressive in itself.

Not good...fingers crossed your back soon. On a plus note you seemed to have turned pro cyclist on Strava πŸ€ͺ🀣😎😎😎

Oh no!!! Maybe try the arnica pillules after all? And I massaged arnica gel in every evening too. I know it’s supposed to be for bruising but I figured it couldn’t hurt and made the foot massage easier too. I bet you are so frustrated !! But at least you are getting out and cycling ?? πŸ˜₯πŸ’•πŸ’•

Comfrey for bones, so the old remedies say

Oh yeah I’d forgotten about that. I have some in my garden too

in reply to limberlou

I tried going caffeine free at one time, so made comfrey tea from my garden. I got hooked on it, then read it has tannin in it πŸ˜‚

It’s too bad about your fracture not being healed yet. You’re doing a good job keeping fit fit with all your cycling! Sending you πŸ€—

Oh how awful for you! Really not the news you wanted I know. πŸ˜₯πŸ€—

What tyres did you opt for? Sounds like they are going to ge busy πŸ’ͺ🏻✊🏻

Decided I couldn't afford tubeless I'm afraid, so I got some puncture resist crosstrail tyres. The old ones were only 30mm, these are 38mm. Feels quite different! Fingers crossed they really are puncture resistant

Brilliant, they sound much better for the kind of stuff you've been tackling! It will feel very different but hopefully it will give you even more confidence on slippery/slidy stuff as the seasons change too! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻😁

Not sure if it was the tyres or the padded shorts or just that I've toughened up a bit (or most likely all three) - but the tow path felt a heap less painful today than it did back in June :D

Sorry to hear that πŸ˜” definitely not what you wanted but I second what Sadie-Runs and everyone else says. You are amazing to be keeping up your fitness when many of us would have given in to the couch. You have terrific resilience - and you are really doing the right thing - a few months won’t seem so bad when you look back but starting too soon could really really set you back long term. Keep us up to date and keep pedalling πŸ‘πŸ»πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜˜ hugs

How frustrating for you linda! I'm so sorry to hear this.

So, so sorry to hear this; what a frustrating journey this has been for you. Thank goodness for the bike. You've even inspired me to want to start cycling again (having given away my expensive hand built to measure Roberts Audax bike!!!). The cycling will keep you fit and strong, and you WILL run again xxx

So sorry to hear that Linda. I can just imagine how upsetting and frustrating your appt must have been. Keep up the cycling and do try not to wreck any more tyres πŸ˜‚ Big hugs πŸ€—

Oh dear πŸ™. It will heal but these things take time. Make sure you eat healing grub πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‹. Sun on your body while you’re out on your bike will make you feel better and give you a glow. A fillip to your mood too

Have a good sesh on your new tyres. Don’t go mad πŸ˜ƒ

Yes, I can imagine. Good for your positivity which I think helps heal anything I’m using positive thoughts to heal my dratted psoriasis -which despite lots of jollop is getting worse 🀨. I’m willing it to bugger off 😁

You have my sympathies. That's been going on a long time now πŸ₯Ί. I once had an all over allergic reaction (probably laundry powder when I firat moved in with hubby to be πŸ˜€). It was awful! Constant itching 24/7. I really hope you can will it away fast 🀞

Sorry that you are still unable to run Linda - massively frustrating but as others have said, you are still keeping yourself fit with the cycling 🚲 which is great! I know what it's like to be out for months but try and stay positive because you WILL be back out there and it really does all come back quicker than we think! Take care.πŸ™‚x

Oh bloody hell Linda, what's it doing not healing yet 😑 At least you have your excellent cycling though, you'll have thighs of steel by the time you back to running!

I think I may have pulled it when I was doing some PF stretches last weekend .... I'm hoping it's going to settle down before the MRI, and the MRI show it healed. I keep hoping! Fingers crossed anyway!

Oh so sorry to read that, it’s really rubbish. But with all the cycling you’ve been doing you are going to come back so strong!

On appointment topic, do phone for cancellations as there are many and then they can fit you in sooner. Best of luck x

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathon in reply to Couchpotato2

I will phone. Only thing is I've no idea where the referral will actually have gone to! The Dr. couldn't tell me when I asked. When I called the hospital on Friday, they said it could take up to a week for a referral request to be processed πŸ™„ - whoever knew computers were so slow!

Couchpotato2 profile image

I suspect it’s not the computers thT are the problem;-) yes maybe you first need that letter before you start phoning them daily ...
