I ran a Marathon!!!!

That was an awesome day in Brighton. My first marathon complete in a time of 4:56. But it’s much more than that, it’s been a long 16 weeks of training, in the dark, cold and wet winter months. A contrast to the sunny Sunday just gone.

I wasn’t even sure that I’d be able to compete after a pretty severe case of shin splints two weeks ago. However the icing, and foam rollin’ and resting seemed to have worked! The night before my friend whose house I was planning on staying in said he had Covid, I was lucky to get a hotel at the last minute.

Just getting to the start line has such an element luck. Avoiding illness, injury whatever. I should have bought a lottery ticket 😀

These last four miles were the hardest I’ve ever done, physically and emotionally. The pain was intense.

All you lovely people have supported and encouraged me through the training and on the day too, whether you knew it or not. My wife put up with being a running widow and for that I am truly grateful. I love her to bits 😍

Finally, we raised over £1,500 for teenage cancer trust. Money that they desperately need. If you would like to support thier work you can still do that via justgiving.com/fundraising/noel-rooney1

Thanks again for all your support it meant a lot to me, along with the good people of Brighton that came out in droves to cheer on 20,000 nutters to run 26.2 miles 😀

It’s said that getting to the start of a Marathon is an achievement; I think your experience is a good demonstration of that! So, well done for getting to the start and then pushing on through to the end, great result!
