Love the running community!

Max and I were marshalling again this morning at our local Park run. It’s such a lovely, warm, friendly and inspiring place to be and it reminded me of why I love running so much. The number of runners who took the time to-day to say thank you was lovely. Max got petted a few times too lol although I think his favourite volunteer role is tailwalking. There is such a real sense of community spirit and my goodness there are some inspiring people to meet. We had a lovely gentleman who is recovering well from a stroke, and is now able to walk/jog his way round. And we have a lovely man in his 80’s who comes every week, just to keep the marshals company on their posts.

Well done Aldlib, it’s great when everyone says thank you isn’t it? I was by the turning cone this morning and took a tambourine. It got a really good response from runners and the director so I think I might have to take it next time too. Easier than clapping.

Lol, love this! I was actually thinking if I had a set of Pom poms, I could have been cheerleading, but a tambourine would be so much fun. If there was enough of you, you start a wee band 😂.

Yes sadly we don’t get enough people volunteering to have more than one at each location, but I’m hoping more will follow suit and make a bit more noise along the route.

Sounds great. I’ve only ever done one parkrun and didn’t really enjoy it, but I’m going to try my local one here in Abingdon once I’ve done my half marathon
