HM training week6 day4 - intervals

I had a very bad night’s sleep because of the racket the gales were making, especially with the crane and various equipment blowing around on the site just along from us, where they are building retirement flats (conveniently over the road from the undertakers’). Dragged myself out of bed and into a heaving world, with the dogs. Knackered.

Wild, wet and very windy for my run. Trees thrashing and shedding foliage, gulls riding the roller coaster up-currents. However, wearing long leggings was a mistake as my legs were roasting after five minutes.

I’ve solved the shoe problem after having to take the On Cloudswifts back (honestly, they felt like running with cardboard boxes on my feet): I have got my Cloudsurfers back from Mr IDS. They were a tiny bit too big , but wearing double skin socks seems to have solved that problem, and they will hopefully be fine for the HM, since my Cloudflyers are tight after 15k when my feet swell. He didn’t want them because of the colour; people kept remarking on them. You can see them in the collage, along with Dennis, who is the cause of my chest allergy.

I think I did quite well controlling the zones today, all except the warm down phase, where I utterly failed to get my heart rate back into zone 2. I decided not to stop to let it recover, and my only pauses were to cross roads.

Well, in that case, jolly well done for getting out there! You are so resilient and committed, Hidden , I am constantly in awe of you. The weather is bizarre today. Super windy, and at the same time, quite humid and sunny here in London. I am not keen, to say the least! Especially as B/F has ordered we keep the windows shut, having had two HUGE intruders in the flat yesterday – enormous spiders! 🕷🕷 Biggest spiders I think I have ever seen in the UK. 😱 Are they coming in to escape the wind/rain?!

Good call on the running shoes, and I am glad you have a solution. Cloudflyers come up awfully small, I find. I wear a size 5 day shoe, and my Flyers are a 6.5!

Have a good rest today, you have earned it. xxx

Mr IDS shuts windows in summer and wants them open in winter! Humid and sunny here too, as well as blowing a hooley 💨

I’m only resilient and committed when I’m enthusiastic about something. Otherwise I’m a total slacker 😂

I’m in a size and a half bigger than my day shoes too - except the Cloudsurfers, which are a half size smaller than my other Ons and still roomy ... I think because they've got a very roomy toe box. I really like them; they’re very nippy. But it’s normal to take larger sizes in most brands of running shoe xxx
