The foam roller is definitely helping to sort out my cranky knee. I managed all but 5 K this morning before the knee started twinging. My question is, when is the best time to use the roller? Is it straight after a run or before a run? Does it matter when I roll as long as I keep doing it to pound my pesky IT Band.

I think it's down to personal preference!
I'm glad to see your knee is improving xxx
Thanks. The past few weeks have been a nightmare. I'm now hopefully on the road to recovery. I'm still tempted to pay for a specialist running physio for some advice. The NHS physio at work was good but I feel a specialist can give more detailed information about what I should be doing to stop me from hindering my progress. Who knew that a £4 piece of equipment from Aldi would be the solution....
