ITB knee supports

Knee is still sore even after physio and gentle running. I've booked a doctor appointment to be on the safe side. Meanwhile I've just ordered one of these ITB supports to try. Has anyone used one and do they actually work. Being injured is horrendous. I miss running so much and just want to get back to normal. Even if it means only running 5/10 Km 3 times a week. Good luck to anyone running tomorrow in the LM.

I've tried couple of knee supports. Useful over short distances, certainly offering some relief, but becoming uncomfortable over longer runs.

So not the miracle cure I was expecting then?????

Possibly not... Short term for short runs they can help.

Pete - are you still trying to run or are you resting? I know you were doing gentle runs and I'm not questioning your physio but maybe it needs complete rest for a short while? I've not heard of ITB support so can't be of help there. I think the GP appointment is a good idea - maybe they can send you for a scan to make sure all is ok? Good luck.🙂

I've tested from running for a week or so while doing the exercises the physio recommended. This approach has worked in the past so I'm genuinely worried this time that it is something quite serious. I've looked all over the net and YouTube for advice and the bands kept being mentioned. I'll give it a try and see what the doctor says. Only problem is the doctors appointment is a month away.......

A month is a long time to wait - very frustrating! I am just returning to running after a two and a half week rest due to sore knees, which I think are IT/ band/glute related and I know the knees can be affected quite badly by it, so it may still all settle down for you. I've had problems in the past with mine but not like this, which happened when I overdid it on my vertical climber (which I bought for cross training on days off!)Oops!

The worst thing is my knee has responded to strength exercise and rest in the past which is why I'm worried this time. Nothing I do seems to work. 3/4 km and the pain in the knee comes on and I'm resting again. And while I'm running I have no confidence to run as I'm just waiting for the soreness to start. It's all so annoying especially as I had to pull out of the Sheffield HM. Anyway hope your injury worries clear up and you're back to full fitness soon.
