Who do I see???

I have problems with my right leg, particularly the inner edge of my knee twinging but also my toes and my hip. It’s not a show stopper but it has limited my running to just a light run with my eldest and Parkrun yesterday.

I think it may be calf and/or hamstring related as when I got back from my 10 mile run they really needed working on. It’s gone on too long now so I think I need to see someone.

So, my question is: who do I see?? Physio, osteopath or just a sports massage? I’ve only ever visited an osteopath as I’ve only previously had back and hip problems. It’s not an obvious injury so do I need to see a physio? Would a sports massage be able to iron things out, as it could be just over tight muscles?

Thanks all 🤞🙏

My feeling is that a decent physio may be able to determine the CAUSE(S) of the pain and suggest work you can do to improve it permanently. We can't possibly know what your problem is though 😊

Hope you get it sorted! xx

Brilliant... !

Wondering if it could be a trapped nerve? Just your reference to hip and inner knee and toes.. alongside the calf mention...I am no medic obviously.. but I know when I had my trapped sciatic nerve.. I had similar pain in those areas.. my left foot.. two toes were very twingy...Just thoughts really.

You'll get it sorted:) x

This morning my knee hurts, yesterday it was fine. A few days ago my toes woke me up in the middle of the night, now they’re fine. Physio will know, it’s just annoyingly creaky at the moment! X

Good job you're not a Pobble..😉

Sorry, feeling totally uneducated here 😂 I’ve had to Google ‘Pobble’! It might actually be preferable to be a Pobble at the moment. There’s Roald Dahl’s Witches too 😁

The Pobble who had no Toes... Edward Lear

The Pobble who has no toes

Had once as many as we;

When they said, 'Some day you may lose them all;'--

He replied, -- 'Fish fiddle de-dee!'

And his Aunt Jobiska made him drink,

Lavender water tinged with pink,

For she said, 'The World in general knows

There's nothing so good for a Pobble's toes!'

:)

Thank you Floss, I’d better get some lavender water then, or maybe I shouldn’t if that’s what made them drop off after all? 😁

Hiya Bradley! Sorry, I’d forgotten all about this post!

I ended up going to the sports physio and she gave me a set of 5 exercises to do a minimum of twice a day (calf, hamstring and ITB stretches, clams and one legged hip dips). I had really tight calves and my right glute was weak. She gave me a really good massage with her thumbs and elbow in those places. It hurt like mad but it was so good when it stopped!!

I’ve been doing the exercises ever since and they have definitely made a difference. I recover from longer runs more easily now and my hamstrings are much more flexible from leg stretches (e.g I can touch my toes again for the first time in years!!). I’m now building up to a HM very slowly and it all seems to be working (*touch wood*).

Completely different to the osteopath and longer lasting than a sports massage. Expensive but worth it for the longevity.

Have you got an issue you need to sort out then?
