Two weeks ago I did 18. 26miles on the treadmill and mostly did run 2mins Walk 1min. This admittedly is easy to do on a treadmill compared to outside. Also I varied the pace from 18:10, minute miles to 13:57minute miles resulting in a total of 4hrs 35 minutes over 5 sessions on the treadmill (4@65mins and the last one of 35mins) . My normal go to ratio is 30:30 outside so my question is do I stick to my go to ratio or try 2:1 preferably in my next Half Marathon?

Should I change my run /walk /run ratio?
I wouldn't change anything up on race day. If you normally run 30:30 outside, I'd probably stick with that. Of course, when race day comes, I imagine it can be hard to stick to the game plan with the excitement and the atmosphere all around you. Hopefully someone who has done run:walk in a race setting can give you better insight though on what is like on event day (When I was doing run:walk training, I never did get to an event).
A lot depends on when you next HM is - part of the training is to practice different ratios to see what you feel is best for you. I have done a lot of run/walking including three HM's and now training for a full marathon. My last race was a 15K using 30/30. Considering that I spent several years learning and practicing how to run non-stop for 5K parkruns ( starting with C25K) I now find that after exclusively using run/walk for a while now, I find it hard to run for 5 minutes !! But my goal now is to complete this full marathon and do whatever i have to do to finish it. This week I am going to wear my heart rate monitor to compare a couple of different ratios - run/walking the same 5K course at the same average pace (controlled by sometimes walking a little more or less to do so) to try to determine whether there is something measurable to determine which one to use. I have found it "difficult" to determine which run/walk ratio is "easier" for me to do when achieving the same average pace.
