Hey Gareth, how’s it going?

With storm Gareth in town, running choices are fairly simple - either stay in and marvel at nature’s savage force or go out there and do a 7K spin with 3.5K non stop steep uphill. I only once got drenched to the point of total drenchery and that was in late spring. It was kinda romantic, no wind, lively colours, smell of flowers, hysterical birds, etc, etc.

This was something else. Gareth’s brought his tricks along and made sure that power wind distributed the rain horizontally. The wind and rain for some reason swerved around me, not just front or back, and layered me with gallons of water that reached my inner core, nearly to the point of spiritual cleansing of some sort. I’m not sure the exact date for International Masochist Day but this surely felt like the right spot, being in the middle of it all.

Anyway, it had to be done and in fairness it was very enjoyable. I would recommend it to all who contemplate between those two opening options. It’s only Gareth after all. ;)

Good photo mrrun, that guy behind the person with the umbrella in the driving rain with his head down texting on his phone seems oblivious to the weather.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your run today with Gareth soaking you to the skin, yes you are a bit of a masochist, but you enjoyed it with Gareth, that is the main thing. 😊

I keep thinking of my son whose part of today’s swimming training will be a ‘dry’ workout in the park where he’ll have to run tied up to a bench with a bungee cord, haha, oh dear. I got away with my task relatively easy.

Haha, thank you mate but the way l saw it was simple - Tuesday 7K, interval or hill. Interval in puddles would be pushing it a bit so I picked hill. I learned a while ago that overanalysing doesn’t suit me so l simply go without thinking. Fair enough, I would draw the line at certain things but I’m yet to meet them, lols.

Great job. I don’t think it’s official, but this is the closest thing I could find facebook.com/15363143699636...

Waylon Smithers has seen it all, I am not worthy. On the flip side, merely hours since my aqua run the skies over sarf London are blue, wind is agreeable and temperature perfect running 5C. Then again, if l had waited I’d probably end up in a tornado....

In retrospect it feels even funnier. Getting a full side splash from a passing lorry and not feeling a drop was liberating. The running gear was literary glued onto my skin. I should try that more often l reckon.

Rain is so much fun to run in as long as the temps are not crazy cold. Its an adventure! Good for you on getting out there and enjoying the elements!

I have this feeling that whoever conducted the elements had more fun looking at me from above fighting them. 😀 In terms of actually diving into it, l literary had less than a two hour window and it had to be done, or no run. But, you’re right, if it’s not freezing then no harm comes out of a ‘few’ drops of water, it brings childhood back into play!

Kudos. Rain and cold is not a great combination.

One of the most enjoyable and memorable runs I've ever done was a 30km in a summer storm with huge warm droplets thrashing down on me for most of the time! I got soaked to the skin but nicely cooled and refreshed at regular intervals!

Summer storm? 30K? Runners’ idea of paradise! Or at least mine. Mind those thunderbolts though! ;)
