Today I went out to run 10km as I am on an ‘easy’ week on my training plan so no long run needed this weekend.
I am visiting family so ran out to the reservoir that we used to go picnic at when I was a child. I had forgotten how many hills there were but tackled each one of them with my head up, shoulders down and paces steady and I managed to run up all of them.
The weather wind blew but the sun was out and I enjoyed each and every step I took today. It was a pleasant relief following my runs of recent weeks where the weather has taken its toll on my mental strength. I took a break when I got there to take some pics, do some stretches and have a drink then back I came.
I now have a wind burnt face but I am wearing a big smile and I know that only a few months ago those hills would have won and I would have walked! I am improving
Enjoy your runs peeps

Fantastic, sounds like a great run. Well done conquering those hills. 😊👋👋
Your photos look fabulous! Looks like that was a really good run Hills! Yeah pain in the ar*e sometimes but they are good for the core so go up em!
Wind burn is a real thing! The after effects can be awful so get some strong protection cream and some for afterwards. I got horribly burned around my forehead and eyes one April At the mo I have a pot of Body Shop Hemp heavy duty face protector (gift from my niece) It's easy to slap on and seems to be working.
Thanks for the tip with regards to cream. I had never even given it a thought until I got home and as the hours have passed my face has got tighter and redder. I have put some baby lotion on for now until I can get to somewhere tomorrow
It was a 10k trail race where I got horribly burned as it was windy but sunny. My face fried! It took some time to get it restored. My husband bought me some Clinique moisture surge, which I'd read about it Hemmo's book "Running like a Girl" It's expensive so I can't afford it. My husband gets it for me for birthday and Christmas. A pot lasts about a year if I'm careful. The body shop one is lovely and goes on ever so easily Nivea Soft is inexpensive but good for post run when you've had a bath or shower. It's usually on sale somewhere for under a fiver
Now that you mention lip protector i have realised that is why my lips are so dry... silly me for not considering all of this before I went out. I was so happy to not be running in the rain I totally didn't consider things which are so obvious!
My other half bought me a pair of running sunglasses this week which I am glad I did wear today as the sun was shining so at least they helped stop my eyes drying out too
Sounds like a fulfilling run. A nice contrast to the lousy weather you’ve experienced. Well done on pushing through all the hills! The pics are beautiful too.
