On a whim I decided that I want to run 10 miles. Maybe only once and definitely very slowly.
It is almost 2 years since I first donned my trainers and shuffled and panted my way through week 1 of C25K and since I found the amazing fora that support us all; the slow, the fast and the ugly. Many of my peers (and those who came later) have gone on to do some amazing stuff, whilst I have been a plodder; struggling to balance work/family and running.
Anyway, I have kept going and whilst not always 3 runs a week, did run regularly. Up to 10k a few times, and then that whim. I mentioned the vague aim to my family and my ultra athlete niece called me 'badass', which I sooo want to be
So a fortnight ago I switched to imperial and ran 7 miles and yesterday 8 miles (in appalling conditions). Two recovery runs each week too. Next weekend is a planned 9 miler and 10 within the next fortnight.
I don't know that I will do it more than once and I don't think I will go further (although I've said that a few times before!), I just want to be able to say that I have run for 10 miles. So I have popped up here (even though it is neither a HM or a race) to the big kids gang.
It's just a shame that there is no Graduate badge for this distance....
I'm very impressed! Not taking the easy plus 1k per week option, but going straight for plus 1 mile a week - that's really badass. Amazing it's been nearly two years isn't it? I don't know about you, but I didn't for one minute think I'd be hooked on running two years on 😀
Good to see you on here Hidden . Once you have done it once you will want to do it again, I'm pretty certain of that.
However, I'm sure you will be great, and you can do it when and where it suits you. The weather will hopefully improve. So no pressure on you at all, just enjoy.
Then of course its only another 5k and you could do a HM...
