Hello Marathon Running and Race Support Group! πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ

I’m biting the bullet and introducing myself here in the hope to gain some pearls of wisdom on my way to the 10 miles, 20K and HM milestones in my training regime.

I started C25K in May, graduating in July with a sub 30 mins. Following a month of consolidation runs I started Ju-Ju’s Magic 10K Plan, graduating October with a sub 60 mins and pushing on further for a 12.13K graduation run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

I took a few days rest before starting my quest to 10 miles, 20K and HM by using the 10% rule to add distance to my last longest run each week.

Following this plan I should 🀞🏻 hit the 10 Miles milestone nest week!

I then plan to cut back and/or rest for a week before pushing on for the 20K and then the HM.

My Ave. Pace has dropped as I push for the longer distances but I assume (hope) this is normal. I am still aiming for the sub 30 and sub 60 for the 5K and 10K in the longer runs but then the pace takes a hit.

I just wanted to say hi πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ really!

Happy running all! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Wow that’s a great improvement since May! Make sure you drop back every 3-4 weeks as going up so much is tough so you don’t want to get tired legs. Definitely cut back the pace a lot. Well done πŸ‘πŸ½

Thanks Tasha99 πŸ™πŸ» Yes, I plan to drop back the week after next - going to hit that 10 Miles first! 🀞🏻

Hi! Welcome to this forum. Your progress is amazing, well done. Let us know when you hit the 10 miles as I'm pretty sure we have a badge waiting for youπŸ˜€

If you look in the pinned posts there's lots of information there to help you as you increase distance. Keep the long runs slow - if you want to play with increased pace do so on the short, in between runs and, as Tasha has said, do be mindful of overall distance each week and how you feel as this is when problems can begin unless you take care. Enjoy the journey and keep posting to let us know how you are getting on.

Thanks linda9389 πŸ™πŸ» I do like a new shiny badge! 🀭

Thanks - I’ll check out the pinned πŸ“ posts.

Wotcha!! Good to see you on this one too!! You showed remarkable restraint to not go 10 here already πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

You'll be absolutely fine. I have no doubts. Just keep consistent and it won't be 'if ' for any if these distances but 'when.'

Hiya πŸ‘‹ GTFC! Yes, I did briefly toy with pushing for the 10 miles yesterday but as it was over the 10% rule and I felt by the end that I could be walking faster (backwards!) I happily stopped at my target!

Hi PhoenixRise , I'm too much of a newbie on this forum to have any pearls of wisdom, as my longer distances were run unexpectedly and came from, umm, having a couple of good runs where I just decided not to stop!

The only suggestion I can offer is not to worry about keeping your pace fast; it's unlikely to be sustainable. If you want to run fast, do so on shorter runs, and concentrate on finding a comfortable pace to keep going for longer.

Happy running!

That's amazing progress and no doubt you will hit 10 miles next week.

My first 10 mile run wax dine, as usual for me 'by accident' but I'm not a follower of plans. Everyone is different.

You are fast, so I suppose it will be about slowing down enough for the run to feel comfortable to you! Interestingly I run faster on longer runs than on some of my shorter runs, but I think that's about having plenty of time to get in my pace zone.

Good luck.
