Hi everyone I'll have been nearly running a year on 20th may I've done a few 5k races and a 10k race I've now signed up for a half marathon in October (scary times 😨). I've got a training plan which I'll start July time and from now until then I'm going to up my running from 3/4 to 5/6 miles once a week -once a fortnight. Has anyone got any other training tips?

Hello, and a massively warm and cuddly welcome to the forum!!!
Sounds like you've got a good solid plan in place, nice one. If not included in your plan, I'd suggest adding a strength routine - this link has useful info.
Good luck and have fun! And keep posting your progress here Which half have you signed up for?

I also did some stretch and strength work on non run days focusing on glutes, hamstrings and quads, my weak spots. These helped to avoid injury I am sure.
I do weight training would this be ok?
Sounds good
Roseabi it didn't save all my comment to you for some reason. Thank you for commenting I'm doing the hedgehog half in north Lincolnshire which goes around all the little villages. I'm really excited but very nervous at the same time x
Are you indeed. Hmmm like the sound of that 😃. My marathon is in Lincs in November. I fancied the Rasen 10 k too if it’s on this year
Weight raining should be good as you use your upper body strength a lot on these longer runs. Core too! You get tired, slump and so have to keep hauling yourself back up if you’re not strong enough, as I’ve done so often 🙄
Don’t go off too quick. It’s a long way 😃
This worked for me:

All the best & good luck!
I’ve used this plan which has worked for me! (Although I tweaked it a bit by skipping the first few weeks and planning a rest week in the middle!)
