Let 2019 begin

Well, the organizers of this run had us perform a human etch-a-sketch routine to spell out 2019, which made for a nice start to the year. I found myself falling short of the full plan distance again (this is after switching to a more reasonable mara plan), as I just didn’t have it in me to go the full 20 today due to some left leg pain. Only managed close to 16k in segments. So I know I will need to get on the long distances sooner than later. March is approaching!

GPS art, too fun! I've contemplated giving it a go, but have never taken the time to actually plan it and do it. Sorry to hear your leg is giving you some grief; take care of yourself.

Yes, not my skills at work. 🙂I just followed the pack. Thanks, my leg is feeling better today and I am trying to give it a rest.

I think planning is the way to go with this GPS drawing business, following my unimpressive mistletoe attempt before Christmas 😂 16k is a good solid distance in the bank, March is still a way away yet 😊

I was impressed with your mistletoe!

Haha, ah but you didn't see me going in ever-increasing circles and swearing, trying to get the right sized berry! There are about six mini-berries on my map too, before I got it right!

Aw, it did look pretty though!

I am not sure that Strava art is fun really - my feeble 'Ho Ho' was quite a slog 😊

It's really hard! And then you see someone has supposedly knocked out some kind of complex Father Christmas design 😑 Hrmph, I bet they just draw those fancy ones using a red paintbrush tool in Paint.

The 2019 was a slog too. I kept thinking we were done but no...

I must have missed that one but it sounds like an ambitious subject for this medium!

Yes, this only happened because I was with far more organized people that knew what they were doing 😂 Yes 16 is decent, though it was broken into shorter segments. I next need to put in a solid 15+ continuous run. Going to rest a bit and give it a go. Going to also try not to stress about it too. 🙂

Take care of that leg! It's not reasonable to expect big distances when something is bothersome - it's hard to think of anything but the problem. Heal fast.

Well done on the run and the art 😀. I think I ran a toasting fork the other day, or “trident” should I say 😁

Well done Decker. I did a nice cat just before Christmas, but the layout of the roads I ran lent itself to being able to do it. Not that I noticed till it was pointed out to me.

But I think thats the secret - work with the landscape.

haha very nice! - there used to be an app that you drew your art into and it would align to the nearest roads - around a year ago it was everywhere, now I can't find it. ah well.

Ah, good old etch- a-sketch, I remember it well! (always felt a little frustrated at not being able to draw a proper curve or lift the 'pen' off!😧). Hope that leg pain settles soon for you Decker. Take it easy until it does.🙂

Thanks Sandra - the leg sorted itself well and I was able to go on a long run yesterday with no issues today, so I am relieved. It's hard to know sometimes when something is an injury or just a normal 'growing' pain :) Yes I recall on the etch-a-sketch, trying to make curves with so many little side and up switches :)
