went out to do my long run this morning and pain in right buttock very strong had to walk back home I think I have pulled my Gluteus maximus when I did park run I sprinted (for me) the last bit chasing a pb, egotistical fool that I am, didn't get pb but got pain in buttock. I suffer with rheumatoid arthritis in that hip but this is definitely muscular not skeletal can anyone advise what's the best course of action to take don't want it to spoil my HM training

Sorry to hear that, but don't despair! Take a couple of days rest from any strenuous exercise, but keep moving - gentle walks for example. Take some painkillers. xxx

Not if it's painful. For one thing it's just not nice, but also the pain could well cause you to limp, which will place uneven pressure on your good leg, and could make you twist your back also - all of which could result in further injury. Run again when it feels less sore xx

When I had tightness in my glutes, my physio recommended sitting on a tennis ball, on a hard chair, and rolling around to massage out the tension. Not sure if that is helpful right now but may be as your glute recovers? Take it easy and enjoy the rest 😁

Just a cheeky 5K race today! :-)

I had my first race of the season today! I was going to treat it strictly as a recovery run though...
