Hello moon runners.... so here we are at week 2 of running round the moon. Thanks to Lordi we now have a super cool Strava group to track us:

strava.com/clubs/nhsrunroun...

Going on the Strava group, we have covered 373.9 miles in the first week which is 5.5% round the moon so yay thats good work!! *( edited after my poor mathematicals)

So how are you doing and how on track are you? Lets give each other a kick up the bum if required!!!

Moon runners:

Me: 200k

Sqkr 100k

Frostie2560 100k

misswobble 146k

roseabi 200k

Lordi 175k

MikeJones68 65k

Whatsapp 50 miles

HoagyM 100k

andystev 76 miles

pinkaardvark 220k

AnnieW55 100miles

Tasha99 90k

Ripcurlrana71 80k

Lorijay 50 miles

Hidden 50 miles

APScotland 50 miles

Cazzer60 100k

Frostie2560 100k

Macmac 130k

Sadamski 120k

Langley-Loper 30 miles

Sorry I couldn't tag you all, HU only lets you do so many!

If you are training for an event then this may be a great way to help keep you focussed on getting the miles in!! If you aren't then its a great way to get out there and run a bit more!!!

At the end I will tot up all of our miles to see how far we would have ran round the moon, so lets aim high!!!

I joined the Strava group, but didn't realise I should report in here and be added to your list - oops! Hopefully, my miles still count! xx

Yay all count deffo. What is your goal for the month and I will add you on here?

in reply to ju-ju-

If it's 1-31 August - then hopefully 100K!

It doesn’t look like my first weeks runs were added as I didn’t join the Strava group til after I’d done them🤔.

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Frostie2560

The Strava group does not have the capability to show total runs for this challenge - it only has weekly totals. You should be able to see your results for this week and last week though?

Frostie2560 profile image
Frostie2560 in reply to roseabi

I’m probs not looking properly!. Shame I can’t log my runs while away. . I’ll report back on what I do though!.x

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Frostie2560

In the Strava group, scroll down a bit and you'll see 'This Week's Leaderboard' with a list of people's total km for this week so far. You can switch between this week and last week by clicking on the buttons to the right of the heading.

But not to worry, you can as you say just tell us about your Moon runs and we'll tot them up ourselves :)

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Frostie2560

I can see you did 20.2 km last week, and 5.3km so far this week :)

Frostie2560 profile image
Frostie2560 in reply to roseabi

Weird!. I know that’s what I’ve done. Apart from a 4K yesterday (that moment you realise you didn’t press start on strava😳) but still can’t see last weeks but I’m glad you can see it at least!.

A long run tomorrow then I’m away. I’ll be back and will let you know what I did... I can’t scrimp on runs as GNR is getting too close now, just got my run number today!.

roseabi profile image

You have to look at it on the Strava website, it doesn't show up on the app.

I've one session a week that doesn't get tracked, the less encumbered I am when that woman tries to kill me the better! So I'm 3 or 4 miles down on logged mileage.

Helllooo do you want to just log what you do do and I will add it on 😎

Yay, are you on Strava or shall I add it on to the overall score?

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathon in reply to ju-ju-

Actually it’s 46 km as you started the challenge on 30 July. I thought it was from 1st August so didn't include the 5k I did on 30th July

Can you do it for me as I’m not on strava. Thanks 🙏😃

Look at little Snowy in his little space suit!!!

I think I'm on track - although I've only run 49.2 km this month, my long run is tomorrow :)

😁😁😁

Ive run 36.33k this month so far and the Strava run round the moon group has only credited me with 17

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to

The Strava group is only capable of showing week by week results. Your 17k is just what you have run this week :)

I will write a new post to clarify this, as you are not the first person to point this out xx

in reply to roseabi

I tried to get it to show last week but no luck. I’m guessing it will only show my runs from after I joined.

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to

I don't think so, because I only joined the group on Monday and I can see my last week's results.

I think maybe you are looking on a mobile device - on the app probably? I can only see this week's data on the app - there is much more to see on the website...

in reply to roseabi

You’re right, it’s the Strava app on my iPhone. Android tend to be more comprehensive for this kind of thing, for some reason the Apple versions strangle some apps.

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to

Maybe, although my phone is Android :) It's a tricky balance to fit a lot on an app and retain useability.

in reply to roseabi

Oh, ok. Some Apple apps don’t do as good a job as 5heir android equivalent - or maybe things have changed. I was an android user for 4 years and the Apple equivalents were pants quite often.

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to

Oh yes, absolutely!

AnnieW55 profile image

55k done up to yesterday with 24k to add at the weekend, hopefully. Still on track according to my plan 😀

(I’m not a Stravarite)

in reply to AnnieW55

It’s useful, because when people you get to know stop posting on the health unlocked forums they are usually still on Strava, so you don’t lose your friends.

AnnieW55 profile image
AnnieW55 in reply to

I can see how it works and why it’s popular but it’s just not for me. (Hope that comes across nicely - I have absolutely nothing against it 😀)

Sandyscroll profile image
Sandyscroll in reply to Whatsapp

I've got heel pain this week too. Never had it before. It could be caused by moon dust I guess. 🤨 More running might shake it off. 🙃

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathon in reply to Sandyscroll

Not surprising really 😬. I am blaming the hot dry weather, baking everything underfoot. My stony trail is bad enough in the wet but at the moment it’s like running on, well 🤷‍♀️ moon rock Ouch ouch ouch. Even with my crash pad shoes on

Take care peeps. Go steady 👍🏃‍♀️

Lordi profile image
LordiMarathon

JuJu - Think we've done 5.5% of the Moon's circumference not 0.003%. 374 miles is 602km ....602km/10921km = 0.055

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Lordi

Woohoo!!

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Marathon in reply to Lordi

surely not? I did 373.9 divided by 10,921,000 = 0.003%. I lifted the miles from your strava write up. I think there is an extra comma!!! In which case if it is 10,921 miles divided by 373.9 that equals 0.3%. However I have just googled and its not 10,921 miles its actually 6786 miles.... so that is 5.5% YAY go us!!!!

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to ju-ju-

:D 10,921 km = 6786 miles :D

5.5% it is! Only another 10321 km or 6413 miles to go...

Lordi profile image
LordiMarathon in reply to ju-ju-

Yep. Gorra keep to either miles yards or kilometres and metres in the calculations :-)

HoagyM profile image
HoagyMHalf Marathon in reply to ju-ju-

And if we are 5.5% through after one week, it should take us another 94.5/5.5 = 17.2 weeks to finish, so somewhere in early/mid-December. Unless we get more to join the gang of course 😀

ju-ju- profile image
ju-ju-Marathon in reply to HoagyM

This is turning into a mathematical challenge as well as a moon running one 😂😂😂

I will add my miles to help out at the end but it's not going to be a good month and a bit embarrassingly low. Still might just get us back to the lunar module and home again.

Sandyscroll profile image

I confess, the first I knew of this was when Lordi added me to the group on Strava - thanks Lordi I'd have totally missed out otherwise! I've a habit of missing the start of things and then don't join because I think I'm too late. 🙈 I haven't pledged a distance therefore, and you can add my mileage from Strava to the list ju-ju- . I did 9.8 miles last week and 7.2 miles so far this week. Sorry it's all in miles...I feel like I'm cheating if it's in Km because the numbers get too high too quickly. Loving the moon quest idea. 😍

AnnieW55 profile image
AnnieW55 in reply to Sandyscroll

Exactly why I like kms - they tot up/get ticked off more quickly 😀

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Sandyscroll

What are you aiming for, Sandy?

Sandyscroll profile image
Sandyscroll in reply to roseabi

9 miles a week would be realistic ATM I think roseabi . Better a little than not at all. 🙂

roseabi profile image
roseabiUltramarathon in reply to Sandyscroll

Absolutely! 45 miles it is then - for five weeks that is! :)

misswobble profile image

Hi Ju-ju, I wasn't planning to join as distance will be embarrassingly low, but your point about keeping focused for an event is a good one! I'm not Strava-ing at the mo, so count me in. I've done 19k this week so as Wobble says, every little helps!
