Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Check out ju-ju-'s new distance challenge if you haven't already:
Not sure why it's a "stinking" pull-up, but it makes some kind of sense
I am completely knackered after visitors, Brighton Pride, and some seriously hot weather this weekend, but the ultramarathon plan continues, albeit with some more day-swapping!
Having broke my 5k PB and then broke it again in the last week, I am taking my foot a little off the gas (speedwise) and increasing my run distance this week.
Like the look of the pull-ups. At present I am working through a 100 pushups challenge, so perhaps the pull-ups could be my follow on - though I am not sure where I would even do that, can you buy a bar for your garden?
Yes, the "Run to the Moon" club is now set up on Strava for those who use the app. I've set Abi and Julia as admins as i'm an IT caveman and have no idea how to upload icons/wallpaper backgrounds etc! I'd hoped it would show total club mileage but it doesn't. But at least it neatly summarises each members' mileage from last week!
My week is 12k (done) then my long run (23k) and then a 5k jogette.
I don'r work for the company ( obviously as an IT caveman ) but this app is great: (Relive) It links to Strava and creates 3D flyby video for each run. Thanks to PinkAardvark for the heads-up.
Doing that mileage challenge ๐ช๐๐๐โโ๏ธ
Training going well as is the gym stuff I get a brand new plan this Wednesday. Started pull-ups last week, so feeling pretty epic, old bird that I am ๐. Done two trail runs this weekend, so thatโs another 20km in the bag
Off to hospital soon with my poorly ear ole ๐. Not got a date yet mind you. Feeling much better though
Been on my plot today in the scorching sun. Bought back some lush plums and super red apples ๐ Got a tad pink ๐.
Just a mini run for me yesterday, thanks to a blister on the arch of my foot right where I seem to launch from. I think it's my old shoes...they used to give me a blister if I went longer than 10k untaped, but even though I did tape my foot up yesterday they got me at just 5k. Ow. I was really fed up, I was enjoying my run and even tamed The Hill, which doesn't look like much of a hill at all on Relive but is a real cow. It's something about the way it winds, so you think you're at the top but no! surprise! another bit! and then when you're definitely almost at the summit there's a nasty steep bump to make your heart beat its way out of your body with the sheer effort. I've not been up it for ages and was worried I might have lost the knack, but I kept going. At least until I stopped at Dunsapie Loch to take a picture, as I love the fact you can see the sea in the distance like an infinity pool. I even started the second part of my run, but had a change of heart and just ran home instead There's a sad little double back blip on my Relive where I thought "I'll try going onwards...actually nope". On the plus side, it's totally justified the accidental purchase of another pair of Cloudflyers for road running last week. They've been faithful friends, but at nearly 500km of use it seems it's time to retire my Brooks to a life of short, flat stuff only.
Still 5 or 6 weeks behind with my HM training but heading out nownownow! for my first 10k in ages. Got my hydration backpack in the fridge and will take it steady - fingers crossed!
I was in doubt when I started seeing things after 8k, I can tell you! The trees all bent down and then there was a river at my feet I know I was sweating a lot but I don't think it was that bad
It has been very hot here like many other places and Iโve been a bit challenged on the last few runs. Work has been more demanding lately too. But still chipping away at it. Trying to work out my schedule to join the Wed run group for the hill sessions which I know I need to improve. If work allows I will.
Sooooo any one any tips for getting over food poisoning quickly?! I have been poisoned by a quorn scotch egg I spent all yesterday reenacting Regan from the Exorcist, and am less horrid today but feel so rotten! All plans of lots of nice short lunch runs have gone out the window
