Dreaming of running a marathon? ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ

The results of the 'what do you love about running' poll suggest that most of us run to get away from life for a while!

So let's daydream a little! If money were no object, you had a pair of Nike Zoom Vaporfly, and a private jet...

Which marathon would you choose? Would it be:

โ˜… ICONIC like the London, New York, or Tokyo Marathons?

โ˜… EXTREME as the Everest Marathon, or perhaps the Inca Trail?

โ˜… SCENIC - Big Sur, Two Oceans, or the Patagonian International Marathon, to name but a few?

โ˜… QUIRKY as the Marathon du Medoc, or Man v Horse!?

โ˜… FLAT & FAST, like the Berlin or Boston Marathons?

Have a vote over at the latest poll:

Tell us all about your top choice!

And have you seen this advert for the Reykjavรญk City Marathon? ๐Ÿ˜„

My pal and I decided on Friday evening that we would do the Reykjavik marathon next year (well, she's up for the 10k)! I was in Iceland in March and it's such a wonderful place and I kept wishing then that I'd bought my shoes so I could explore a bit on foot. So, I figured an easy mistake to fix, I'll just go back! So we've planned a trip next August ๐Ÿ˜Š Admittedly we'd had a few gins when we planned it, but I'm not going to back down now...

(Not my top money-and-practicality-no-object choice though, I need to give that one a bit of thought!)

It's official!!

And I'm really looking forward to hearing all about it ๐Ÿ˜Š

I like the scenic runs best, but I want to try them all, of course! Quirky and extreme are missing from my repertoire to date, hmmm... I suppose the Barkley Marathons could cover both ๐Ÿ˜‚

Scenic I guess but the city ones would probably tick that box too Patagonia sounds nice ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Iceland less nice โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒงโ˜ƒ๏ธ Good advert though ๐Ÿ˜

I like England's green and pleasant land mind you ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘

I think the weather is generally quite pleasant for the Reykjavรญk marathon - about 15ยฐC and sunny :)

It'd be scenic and maybe not too commercial for me. I fancy the most northerly UK one the St magnus marathon in Kirkwall on the orkneys. Have been there but not run there. goo.gl/images/mmrCuC

But I'd be happy with the Loch Ness marathon or the Suffolk or Norfolk coastal trail marathons.. No private jets for me and you can keep your nikes,

Ooh, St Magnus Marathon is going on my list!!! Although even that looks like a lot of travelling to me :) Loch Ness is already noted, it looks absolutely gorgeous!

I love me Nikes! Pegassussses

I'm a bit big- marathon averse, preferring small, local affairs. There were only 28 peeps in the one I did.

St Magnus Marathon had 58 finishers this year, so that might be a bit busy for you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Definitely scenic. Patagonian, Big Sur. Two Oceans. They all sound amazing. Now all I need to do is get up to 42k :) Found some additional inspiration: youtu.be/gDsTO5moNhM

I'd run all of those, except I'm not so keen on needing guns and helicopters :D

I do fancy the Marathon du Medoc, but then I think about how much worse my hangovers seem to be as I get older, and then I think about trying to run at the same time, then I think about doing all that full of cheese and oysters...and then I have to have a bit of a lie down to recover from the horror of what might befall me, or indeed everyone around me ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฎ
