Sorry, I've been a rather poor chatmonger so far this month π¨
But finally here we are π
Hello everybody and welcome to a new week!
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. It's fabulous to see everyone's training updates each week!
If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
Let us know how your training, cross-training, recuperation, running, racing is going!!! Any stately home visits planned?
And have you been trying out our latest challenge? If not, there's still time to join in the fun Link:
I've had a fabulous week. Swimming longer and stronger, weight work, and two extremely rambling walks. Slightly gone to seed over the bank holiday weekend, but my leg is much much better, and I'm feeling fit and am looking forward to the London2Brighton challenge!
Hola! Got the Leeds Half this weekend, my running club Tuesday night sesh has been dumped for a gig tonight so will have to pick up those miles tomorrow instead... I've done Kings Cross to Jail on my Monopoly Run and ran 2.6 miles to the gym yesterday in 26 degrees which was actually awful. First time I've managed to get that sweaty before a gym session.
Might try and do more running been a bit slack lately and going to try and do some swimming tonight, not going near a bike my bum hurts! (see other non running related post)
quick question: should the title of this topic be:
Weekly Chatsworth May 7th to the 13th instead of April 7th to the 13th?
If yes, for me will be a quiet (running-wise) week, tapering for the marathon next week. however I will think and think again about the hill and how to run... so internally will be a long week. I hope to give you good news on Sunday
My ankles and heels are aching π my training distance has increased and this is the result! 4 days rest now due to work so hopefully will be settled for a 14k run on Sunday π
Stiff legs after the 3 weekend runs, so I think I need to sort out a sports massage ahead of the Gatwick half on Sunday (I had thought we had an extra week between Mid Sussex and Gatwick when I signed up for both...)
Not yet! But if I can't get into my normal sports therapist, the team that were doing the massages at the Mid Sussex weekend have said they will fit me in.
I couldnβt afford massage post marathon so I bought a five quid yoga dvd. Itβs flippin ace! Best fiver I ever spent It worked, and I had no post race afters π.
Resting after this weeks race. Will try to get out on the longer Saturday group run if things are feeling good. Was a bit sore yesterday, but its all feeling ok today.
One of my favourite photos - I probably have it in all seasons
I'm back home and realising that the HM training should probably start now. I feel like I'm starting again from scratch and my hips are sore (what's all that about then??) so I will build up slowly. Hey ho...
It's not till September, so I (should) have plenty of time. Yes, it's been a while since I've checked in with my chiropractor so I will book an appointment and go and be tortured. I have long-term issues with my lower back so it's probably that again.
Hi shug ! Have I seen your latest post π€. I shall go see
Back in Blighty! Speaking of chatswuff, have you heard that the Lancaster bomber is to come back over Derwent or ladybower very shortly, possibly both I think chatsworth is involved Appalling lack of detail there πβΊοΈ Soz
After Sunday I have a new ten mile plan to download given up on Nagging Nancy and her flaky carry on Zenlabs has offered me some compo in the form of a credit off Runkeeper Go subs. I am using free runkeeper just to see what itβs like Itβs worked 100% so far. Iβve got a bossy US military type doing the coaching He calls me a maggot and wonβt bake me cookies βΉοΈ If itβs good I might take up the money off offer as it works with myasics plans Dunno if they arenβt one and the same
I go there a lot as itβs nearby. You can run there as they stage running events
There is a walk from a local road which brings you out at the start of the source of the cascade. The water spout in the lake can go massively high but they keep it turned down for reasons of βelf and safety π. You could get wet possibly π
I am having a good time running, gym, dog walking, and sorting out my plot. I have a newly-opened Route to run/walk and do Rigβs challenge. Gym is going brilliantly. My gym guy is ace. Best Christmas gift I ever had. The classes, not the guy π I am doing floor work with weights and own body weight stuff which I like, and new to me is the TXR, or is it RTX π€π. He mentioned spinning but not done any as yet. Th idea is to get stronger in my core to support running longer and further πͺ
Taper week this week and my tough 10k race is this Sunday It starts off on a hill, which rises for the first 4 kms. This will be the fourth time Iβve done it. The first time I got injured and was out for months π¬
This is the race with the legendary cake table, in the village hall, at the bottom of the hill at the end π°ππββοΈπͺππ . I usually walk, home afterwards, across the fields full of cows πππππππππππππππ
My photo from last year was of me struggling to contain my mouthful of cake. I didnβt publish it on here βΊοΈβΊοΈβΊοΈβΊοΈ
The best lemon drizzle I ever ate π Murph should do this one ! π
My cake photo is too awful. I will take a pic of the sagging table instead I did post a pic of me at the finish, and Ali pointed out that I was possibly hiding something behind my back π
My achilles is definately improving and I am hoping I can start doing my longer runs really soon. I have been doing the burpees ( not great technique ) but yesturday I thought I had broken my tummy. I think I am going where no man has gone before.
Hi all! Sorry about not writing or commenting this week. I think I mentioned last month that I had very little work. Well, now it's payback time, and I have tons to do. In Norway, that's a problem, because we have 4 bank holidays plus extra days off from school as well.
I did a good 15K run on Monday. It was nice to see that I ran that 15K fifteen minutes faster than my first 15K in London!
My bad heel flared up badly afterwards, so I finally booked myself into a physiotherapist the next day. He says that several of the little bags of fat under the heel had burst in both feet, but worst on the right side, also causing "beginning plantar fasciitis" (he hasn't completely sold me on that, as we're two months into this). He gave me some shockwave therapy, taped me and told me to buy heel cups to put inside my trainers. The rest of the advice was (in my words) to keep doing what I've been doing - replace most of the training with cross-training. And keep bandaging my heel until I get the heel cups. Luckily a local shop had them, so I'll give them a try today. So my big question is, will the bags of fat recover? I hear that this can be an age thing. Or am I doomed to use heel cups for the rest of my life?
Sorry to hear that I know it's money, but maybe it would be best to check with a podiatrist as well? At least they would be better able to answer your questions...
