Thank you roseabi Taper has been as annoying as usual, it messes with my head, kits nearly all ready, I have the gps tag to sort out for my shoe, not had one of those before and pasta on the menu for tonight. It is going to be a slow cold one but I am so excited. 😀❄️😀❄️😀.
Thank you lovely roseabi, event still on here.......taper not been as bad this time, I’ve been pretty ‘chilled’ 😂, but have been re - checking my training distances and times to reassure myself I can still do it......😬......🤔
Kit sorted, getting to the stage of just wanting to get on with it now.....🏃♀️
Good luck to all those running this weekend. As for me, the game's off... we've been stranded in Edinburgh since yesterday, wth no flights or trains back. If you're running, wrap up warm, watch where you put your feet and have fun!
Oh mfam, can’t have that, Gary’ll be rolling around in delight, me and Realfoodieclub and AncientMum will sort him out, send him out for snacks and hopefully he’ll get stuck in a snowdrift....
It's a bummer, but hey, there are worse things than being stranded in Edinburgh I suppose. The HM may be cancelled anyway, unfortunately - I hope not, it would be awful for all the people who made it there. They've cancelled the short race and are deciding on the HM today. I hope it works out, and that they will give reimbursements or transfers to those who were stuck.
Thanks missw, yes, after all the shenanigans- still going on, on the organisers FB page, it’ll be a relief to get running, I suspect, highly unlikely to cancel here now....
This is an issue I have been having on my long training runs this time.....😳...including having to ‘pit stop’ aka ‘paula’ , it was really bothering me, I’ve tried all the usual, timing of drinks etc., but being a lady of a certain age etc., + the cold, it hasn’t had much effect.
Anyway, I’ve given myself a good talking to, won’t allow it to bother me tomorrow, there are loos at all the water stations, so if I gotta go, I gotta go......I am prepared.....😉
I’ve never needed the loo at half marathons but I did on the marathon, four times in all cos you are sipping your drink all the way round. There were just two portaloos, and not marked male and female. I so wish they had been as women are so much tidier in their toilet habits aren’t they. Anyway it put me off using them. I did however, notice a sales office open at an adjacent caravan camp, so with a little posse of other lady runners, headed in their to ask if we could use their facilities. They were very happy to do so, thankfully. If you don’t ask....... 😁
I usually take an Immodium (other preparations available 😊) for official HMs and that has worked well for me but a bit late as a new thing for anyone to try this weekend. Being a country runner I don't have any worries about alleviating stomach issues but I will take Imm when getting near to an event just to make sure I'm still ok with them. Will have to see what full marathon training brings.
Good luck everyone - you've got this! Bring home that bling
I will look forward to all your reports. It's raining here and I suppose they could probably have run the race today although loads of people wouldn't have been able to travel so they did the right thing really.
Eastbourne was on. All snow a distant memory now but plenty of cold winds and rain for company. I managed it, but it was the hardest thing I've done. A few lessons learned for next time (there will be a next time). My chip time was 2:21:00, so I am happy with that. Well done to everyone else who ran 🏃
