A whole lot of not very much I went for one run last week, a gingerly, still recovering from sickness 8k run saw me stranded halfway through because my knee developed a sharp pain. Had to walk 4k home in the chilly cold brrrr and grrrr. Knee is perfectly fine now, and it was good in a way because it sealed my decision not to risk driving in the snow to/from Milton Keynes for the half marathon. As it turns out they have postponed it until January anyway, so I'll get to run it after all Must have been horrible having to make that call, and lots of people were complaining on the Facebook page. But then also plenty were agreeing that it was the right choice.
While I was ill I couldn't do much other than lie in bed and snooze (cocodamol was the only thing that would touch that headache, but I find it very sleepy-making!), and listen to podcasts. I heard an interview with a 100 metre sprinter who said that he does proper long runs as part of his training. In my delirium I decided that this meant that training runs for the Beachy Head Marathon would be the perfect complement to my triathlon in the summer, so I signed up for the Marathon again* I'm definitely going to slow down after that though.
Easing back into running and strength training this week. The only thing I did regularly last week were my eccentric heel drops, and I'm feeling pleased with my Achilles rehab progress - so that's something!
Have a lovely week all, and wrap up warm
*NB I didn't register there and then, I hasten to add, I did take a few days to think it over!
I am at a stage where I'm thinking about what happens over the next few years, and I'm considering a focus on triathlon. But Beachy is just so brilliant, and local, and I'd love to do it in under 5 hours (ok, under 4 and a half)... But 2018 is for sure going to be a monster year!
As I let slip at the weekend, I'm on a streak. Day 11, in fact, so I've beat my January attempt. This has been partly motivated by an online Advent calendar. I think it also helps that I have a much higher base mileage now than I did at the beginning of the year. It's been really great and got my mileage back to where I want it. I've kept my long run and longer interval run at the distances specified in my training plan, then broken the remaining mileage into fairly small chunks. Only thing is MyAsics is starting to complain about my elevated mileage and lack of a rest day. I only use it as a supplement to Mapmyrun, so it doesn't bother me much. Hopefully it will stop complaining at some point!
Lie! Have you lost your mind 😁 are you still delirious 😁. They have a lie detector on the interactive run importer so any dodgy stats would be picked up in an instant, resulting in a pdq visit from the myasics heavies
No, don’t go there C3PO☝️ Still, if you did and got caught, you could tell them that Roseabi told you to 😎 🤥
