The Hoka saga continues

You may remember that I received a rather nice but fake Burberry scarf instead of a pair of Hoka Arahi 3s a couple of weeks ago. Well, I emailed the company which sent me the tracking information and, surprise surprise, they replied. They apologised for the mix up and said they would arrange an exchange for me if I still wanted the shoes. Then they emailed to say my Hokas were sold out, but I could choose anything else from their warehouse (with a link). Unfortunately all fashion shoes and boots so I said no thanks and asked for a refund. They said I would have to return the scarf and I would only be credited when they had received it back in Guangdong ! Alternatively I could keep it and they would refund me 50%. So I’ve accepted their offer. They were only £28 so I’ve only lost £14 and one Christmas present bought 😂 Still need new Hokas though!

Goodness knows how long it would have taken for it to get back to China. I know it wasn’t the outcome I was expecting, but it has somewhat renewed my faith in human nature when I’d started thinking it had been a scam 😃

True.... we have to apply a subjective test I accept. Scammers really get under my skin, particularly when they pester thousands of vulnerable people like my 93 year old mum for bank details. Special place in hell for them .... fortunately she enjoys putting them in their place. 😊

Maybe I am too cynical but this troubles me...This really seems like a scam, most people would probably just shrug and think, oh well it did seem to good to be true. If you call them out they offer you some other (presumably) counterfeit stuff. You say no and then they give you 1/2 back still keeping half.

You don’t report them to any one (like trading standards) because they managed to make you feel like you didn’t do too badly (nice trick) and they carry on defrauding people.

Counterfeit merchandise is part of organised crime, money laundering and the abuse of vulnerable people.

Oh and please don’t give the scarf as a Christmas present. Send it to Burberry with the firms details

Not even my size. I emailed to complain. They say that they’re clean out of fake scarves but if I return the left shoe, I can keep the right one.
