Training for upcoming half marathon and marathon continues. It's going okay and I enjoyed a lovely trail run yesterday. Still a bit slower than myasics plan but I really don't care. I plan to get to the start line in one piece π
I too am continuing the existing training. I've got a 10 mile race on Sunday which I'll treat as a practise run for the far more important HM on 29 October, where I will attempt to meet my 2017 HM target time (which may turn out to be a bit to ambitious).
Work remains busy, and I'm finding it difficult to free up time for the mid week runs.
I'm torn between tapering and continuing my existing training. I'll probably go for the latter. There's a Parkrun anniversary this Saturday, so I don't think I'll be able to resist going when I'm in London.
I have a sore knee It's tweaking under the kneecap, and I think it's also pulling down the outside of my thigh. Very unhappy. I was supposed to do a 7k on Sunday, which I didn't do, I am supposed to do an 8k today and a 5k tomorrow. I will do a teeny little joggette today and see how it goes, and I have a visit to my chiropractor on Thursday anyway. I am a bit concerned (to put it mildly) about my upcoming event next weekend. I have also had to turn my freezer off so no ice.
Thanks, Tomas. I was supposed to run 8km today but stopped at 4km because I wasn't convinced all was well, although oddly the knee was better running than walking. It's achy again now though, but mostly when I sit and do nothing - must be a sign!
I would do the taper. I think the body needs it. You want to be race ready and that means going steady in the immediate run up
Sorry to hear work is putting a crimp on things Tomas. Looks like more torch light runs for you π I was going to say dreadmill runs but couldn't bring myself πππͺβοΈπ
Oh rotten ell Murph! What a crock of poo that is ! You can buy ice from the offy these days (fancy thatπ) Ice is great for inflammation I hope your little jogette goes off all right today shug. Fingers crossed π
Good idea about the offy, Wobble - thanks! The run was sort of okay, but I could still feel it at 4k so I stopped and came home. hopefully the chiro will work her normal magic. Bah.
Hello all! HM My Asics plan wen to pot at the end of August when I put running on hold to take care of my neighbours. Only really got back to being able to run regularly last week, so I've binned the MyAsics plan (couldn't run 14k after having missed out on three weeks of training) and am concentrating on getting back out there for regular runs to ramp up distance and improve fitness. I've signed up for the Ronhill 'run every day' challenge to do that. Then I'll set up a new plan for the beginning of November and hope that life doesn't chuck me any more banana skins.
That sounds like a great plan.... I am on day 269 now, I am just glad I have been able to keep at it through having an ongoing issue with my ankle! ( via osteopath guidance)
Trying not to cry about not getting into VLM and working out how I can bumble my way through the beachyhead marathon as don't really feel i done enough training.
