Ciao Brighton!

I took part in a race at 5:30 this morning!

5.30 Brighton was the last in a tour of early morning runs, coming to us via Verona, Milan, Torino, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Mantova, Reggio, Emilia, Riva Del Garda, and Venice. Run 5.30 was originally conceived in Italy, with the idea of getting some exercise in the heart of a city at an unusual time of day without disruption to your routine. And enjoying cheese and fresh fruit afterwards. And apparently it isn't actually a race or a fun run :)

It was fab. The weather was beautiful (if rather windy), we were all dressed up in matching t-shirts, the scenery was magnificent, and the bling was stunning (sorry, Miss Wobble). There were about 300 of us charging through Brighton at the unholy hour, which was really quite amazing!

We were given water, iced tea, grapes, strawberries, and Parmesan cheese, for breakfast afterwards. As I walked home I bumped into one of the race directors, who was scooting around on a bike looking for stragglers. He told me that 5.30 celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, and in one of the Italian cities (I forget which), there were 9000 participants!!

I think I'll have to visit Italy next year!

Highly recommended :)

Well done missus! Like your tee shirts! You should see ours. LOL We got a cup of water, so lucky you. Oh, and no medal.

You deserve a medal for getting out to run at that time of the morning.

I should add that it was pretty expensive at almost £20! Very nice bling, though :)

Where's that t-shirt pic, then? :D

What a wonderful idea, although the start time does limit participants that might have to travel to get there.

Strawberries and parmesan cheese for breakfast? Glad it was after the run rather than before, or it could have caused a few upset tummies lol.

Well done for participating, and the picture is brilliant!

Thank you Tomas!

I found the breakfast a bit weird at first, but it was refreshing! And I'd already had some breakfast before I left my flat :0). A double-breakfast day is a good day I reckon :D

The joy of running is that we can eat more!

Really well done roseabi. I'd love to have done the race but didn't fancy driving and parking in Brighton at an ungodly hour on my own. Maybe next year.

Thank you! I think it was worth it, although I'd definitely wait until last minute to book, so you can check the weather forecast :)

Looks great fun... Not sure about the early start but made up for by the nice bling 😊

Was really fun. They were quite ceremonious with the bling. We had to queue for just one man who was putting the medals over our heads for us and giving us congratulations! It held up the finish line quite a bit, but it was very sweet :)

Great idea! They did this in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester a few weeks ago, Sunrise City runs with a 5.30 start and again running in matching tshirts😀
