Wet AMD and Eliquis

Has anyone with Wet AMD then put on Eliquis for Afib seen an increase in bleeding in the eyes since being on the Eliquis?

I'm on Xarelto and haven't noticed any difference. I have had bleeds before I was on it and still get a bleed once in awhile,

Yes! I never had a bleed until AFTER being put on Eliquis. First thing I asked my providers about but they had no explanation or possibly no patients ever questioned the correlation.

Thanks for your reply. My mother has had wet AMD for 13 years and getting injections every month since then. She’s had bleeding here and there but the wet AMD had been pretty much controlled. She was just put on Eliquis this April and has been having more bleeding since then. She probably didn’t even think to mention to the doctor about the Eliquis but I think there must be a connection. I’ll have her mention it to him at her next visit.

hi nyla668 Yes I had dry AMD and after 4-5 months on Eliquis for AFib my dry AMD changed to wet! Well I don’t believe in coincidence so even though neither my retina doctor to my cardiologist would say there was any evidence of Eliquis causing a retina bleed I decided to get a Watchman inserted so I could stop the Eliquis. I continued getting Eylea shots for four years in both eye even though my eyes were dry I have now stopped the shots and I have been dry now for 3 years 🙏I will never have to start injections again.
