Hi everyone. I was a passenger in a road accident last week. I was sitting in the back of the car and have 'seat belt trauma. Bruised ribs/sternum and really painful back. I have been given co codamol for the pain. I know codeine is addictive so determined to use it only short term but does anyone know if it has an effect in your eyes? I have wet AMD in both eyes and am a glaucoma suspect. I have read the contradictions and there are many side effects. I cannot take ibuprofen. I am in a lot if pain. Thank you.

Hi EthelPledge94. I'm so sorry to hear about the accident and your injuries, they sound quite painful and what a terrible shock for you and the others involved. I wouldn't know whether the Co-codomol will affect the eyes but others on here may know and will comment when they see your post. I think the best thing to do for now would be to contact your eye consultant's secretary and ask if she would find out from the consultant. You could also ask your pharmacist or contact the Macular Society Helpline and ask there. Wishing you a speedy recovery. x

Thank you Springcross. Any medication frightens the life out of me now because of my sight! Yes it was an awful experience. Thank goodness my husband, son and 9 year old grandson are all walking wounded although my son had to have surgery on his left hand (he's left handed unfortunately) . X

Thank goodness indeed. I hope your son's hand heals well and as for being left-handed - typical it had to be that one isn't it! I hope you get the answer you need regarding the Co-codomol. x

Hi EthelPledge94, so sorry to hear about your accident, definitely best to call your eye clinic and they will advise you, or of course the Macular Society are always helpful. Best wishes.
