I had cataract surgery 18 days ago but sight in the operated eye is still cloudy. Will this clear eventually?. What has been the experience of members of this group. Anything I can do to help this clear?

Hi Miriam123. I had cataract surgery in April 2022 and had a similar thing, but I've left a link for you regarding cataract removal:

Mention it to your consultant if you are booked for a check-up. I was told that it takes a couple of months for the eye to adapt. Good luck.

Thank you so much for posting this page. I have been wondering all these things. I have been afraid to do it.

Same here Miriam. 11days ago for me and I have bad glare in daylight and when driving. I can't live with it like this and am guessing more intervention will be needed. The other eye that was done 3 months ago is perfect and wonderful and was so almost straight away. In input would be welcome.

Hi Gavin. It's early days yet (although your first one was OK). I assume you have a follow-up appointment with your consultant hopefully soon, so you can discuss it then.

I have an appointment next week so will wait to see what they say. Apparently it can take several weeks to completely clear in some patients. Thanks for replying.

just had my second eye done today. It is very watery at the moment and light sensitive which I am sure is due to it being dilated. I read somewhere it can be light sensitive for a few days

You need to get it checked urgently as it may be an infection. A friend got one post surgery last year and it took a long time to clear. Your optician can always do a quick check for infection.

Hi Miriam123, is there any improvement yet? None with me after 5 weeks. Still bad glare and with night driving I have to shut that eye when another car comes towards me. My post opp check is next week and I'm hopeful they'll say laser can deal with it. Love to know how you're doing.

Unfortunately it seems my cornea is damaged and only procedure to correct is corneal graft. Which is not that successful at my advanced age. Fortunately. my left eye is fine. I can function as it is and won't risk further surgery.Hope you have better news.
