My trusted acupuncturist of 25 years suggested I try Lions Mane mushroom powder for protection from bacteria, and for nerve growth. I’ve had a bleeding retina for 3 years (34 injections), eyesight has become stable, but the swelling is persistent. I’m always careful to not take anything that will worsen the conditions, but my retina specialist (US), doesn’t take the time to explore alternative medicine.,
Has anyone heard or tried this?
My thanks!

I've been taking Lion's Mane for about 2 years now. I grind up the mushrooms in a blender, and then put them in my oatmeal every morning. I ingest them because they help with my allergies. I have not noticed any positive or negative effects on my CSR, but I certainly don't think they can hurt. I have also recently (within the past two weeks) started ingesting Reishi in my oatmeal along with the Lion's Mane. I have had a pretty solid prognosis over the past few months with the CSR, but I have an appointment next week, so I will let you know how I make out with that. Again, I can't imagine the Lion's Mane or Reishi hurting your condition. Good luck
Hi, I also get shots occasionally for CNV (currently stable) and also want to start Lions Mane and Reishi. I recently read that they are both good for retina health and anti-inflammatory, so hoping they help. I too get nervous about adding things to my health care regime.
Question: Do you know of anything particular that “we” should avoid? I take a lot of supplements, mostly okayed or recommended by my acupuncturist and not my retinal specialist. Unfortunately my RS isn’t very knowable about herbs and supplements. He just recommends a healthy diet and exercise, which I do. Most of my supplements I’ve researched on my own, so it makes me nervous. I also can’t sit back and nothing for my eyes and health. It’s a double edge sword. Wishing you the best! 💖
