Eylea injection
Hi GailGail, I have wet AMD and had quite bad distorted vision around 4 years ago. I had a series of Lucentis injections (similar to Eylea).Had around 6 in total over 12 months. My vision gradually improved as the fluid around the macular decreased. There is now no sign of fluid and my vision is as good as before. I’ve not had any injections for 2 years now and am just monitored every 3 months or so. I was quite lucky in that I caught it early. But there is hope.
I have almost no vision. Was yours that bad?
No I must admit it wasn’t. I was lucky to have caught it early. I did have a lot of distorted vision though. I think they say around 25% will see some improvement in vision.
However in a demonstration of Sod’s law, whilst my macular eye has improved vastly, my “good” eye has developed a totally unconnected tumour - melanoma. And sight in that has now deteriorated following an operation,
The only plus point is it does make my AMD pale into insignificance!
Hi. See my answer to your Eylea post.
I cant see your reply. Could you post it again.
I am in the USA, so my eye vision measurements are USA measurements.I have Wet MD in my right eye so all numbers are for just that eye. My vision from Wet MD was down to 20/200. Basically could just read the largest letter on the eye chart & that was it. Could not identify anything smaller.
I started on Avastin every 4 weeks for 15 months, but then the Avastin stopped working, so I was switched to Eylea. After the 3 load shots, each one month apart, I went to 6 to 7 week intervals. After about6 total shots, my vision improved to 20/100 and eventually after several more shots it got to 20/80. That is about the best it has gotten after about 4 total years of Eylea shots.
The most important thing is that the bleed has stopped & my vision is not getting any worse in that eye, so I am thankful for that. As for the interval, each person is different. As for me, my retina specialist tried extending the interval between shots, but at 8 weeks, the bleed returned & the vision deteriorated, so now I always get the shot every 6 to 7 weeks.
I hope this answers your question.
Hi Gail, make sure the injections go in, I should have had 5 Lucentis but only 3 went in I now have no central vision in R eye. When you have the injection you feel pressure as the needle presses then you feel a little pop as it goes in then you see a flood of fluid and you always have floaters maybe one big one or a few little ones. I was unlucky, but good luck to you. AA.
Hi, Gail, I developed severe right eye vision distortion due to wet AMD in December 2018. But the diagnosis was not confirmed and injections not started until March 2019. I have permanetly distorted vision in my right eye. A cloudy spot right in the center. It will improve with a Lucentis injection within hours and last for a few weeks, less wavy, but it slowly goes back to very distorted as the injection wears off. So my vision remains altered for all this time, sort of maintaining. I cannot read at all with my right eye. And I have little depth perception left - had my first fender bender in a parking lot this spring because of it! I no longer drive the highways, can't see the merging traffic on the right - maybe I need an auto pilot Tesla car? Hahaha! My night vision is very bad - with my right eye it is dark and cloudy, wierd headlight colors. I avoid night driving. My left eye has no disease. Good luck and I hope you get some improvement with injections.Linda
