I saw my consultant back in July after having quite regular lucentis injections and he said it was all good and didn't need anymore. Looking to see me in 3 months for a follow up and sign me off. I had a macular oedema, brvo. Now, should I get in touch again with him immediately. No vision changes which relieves me a bit but why is it sore? I just hated the after effects of the injections, suffered incredible pain afterwards most times. Should I be worrying if no vision changes? I do work on computers all day, and been a bit off colour the last few days, thoughts please?

Hi MillieT. You could try contacting your consultant, it's best to get advice. It could just be a case of dry eye as my eye gets sore - I've been having Eylea injections for a couple of years now. Whatever it is, the advice should come from your consultant. Good luck.

I had a appointment with gp today, vision was good and eye exam ok so got some dry eye drops and watch and see. Will contact consultant if any changes occur. I was so stressed about it, tad calmer now, will monitor closely though. Thank you for replying x

I hope it all goes well Millie, thanks for letting us know. xx

Forgot to ask Millie, did the GP recommend dry eye drops or did you decide to buy them anyway?

Another dry-eye problem here - I began to feel a soreness right up near where the injections often go in and I was terrified that something might not have healed or have broken down. But there was no redness or actual irritation in the eye, so I waited a few days until my regular appointment and asked then. They were very calm and clear and said, it's dry eye, and gave me some gel drops as well as the usual hydrating drops. I've been using these since and have had no more soreness. So it's worth a try! It may take a few days to work properly, it took me about five or six days to get my eyes properly hydrated.

Thanks so much for your reply. This definitely sounds like what I am experiencing. Can I ask what drops you use for this please? I actually have an appointment with my consultant this Thursday so will be a bit wiser then, thank you.

These were given to me by Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, so you should be able to find them or equivalents if you're in the UK (I think you are?): the drops are Hylo-Tear (contains sodium hyaluronate 0.1%); the gel is Lumecare Carbomer (contains carbomer 0.2% and cetrimide 0.01%). Good luck!

Thanks, I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I know the odd times I’ve been they’ve said about being dry so hopefully this is all it will be. Keeping everything crossed x

You may have dry eyes - like I have. They get very sore at times, try applying good lubricating drops and get them tested for dryness. Obviously this is based on my experience, check with your doctor first.

I’ve had a little discomfort after each of my injections but the ‘Celluvisc’ eye drops really help. (I get provided with a couple of the small tubes each time).
