Pain in eye, 7 days after eyelea injection.

Wonder if this is normal.

I woke up this morning with discomfort in the eye that was treated with Eyelea. It is the 4th injection of eyelea No problems. Also previously had treatment with Lucentis. I had no problem. Would this be normal?

Hello, I have Eyelea injections, it does vary of course, but i do find that sometimes there is discomfort in the injected eye for a while after, what does help me is to make sure I use the drops which the clinic give me as that does ease things considerably, it should then feel much better, of course if you experience severe pain then contact the clinic immediately so that they can check the situation. Best wishes.

Hello PenelopeflowerI found your suggestion for eye drops for dry eyes, very helpful. The hospital I go to does not give me eye drops, so I have to buy them. The pain has now gone. Thanks again for your interest and help. Best wishes to you.

Oh that's wonderful, I am so pleased, I do find them very helpful, especially for the first few days after an injection. They help to ease the symptoms of sore gritty eyes. Best wishes.

Dear quietly2. You can get a prescription for the drops from your optician. I get clinitas gel. It will be free depending on age. Good luck.

Many thanks for that I will try that with my doctor.

Have you asked your GP if he/she can prescribe drops? Mine does. I was advised by consultant not to use drops containing preservatives. I use Clinitas single dose which come in a pack of minims.

Thank you so much, the optician told me to buy dry eye drops, as my eyes were very dry, causing itching. When having one of my injections for wet AMD the nurse gave me 1 small phial of Carmine which has to be used in 12 hours. In spite of having numerous injections since I have never been offered them again, so I supposed I had to buy them . There are 30 in a box, so the cost of £15 will pay for 15 treatments. So this is something I will look into. Thanks everyone so much for your help. Yes I would be eligible as I am over 80 years old.

Hi, I think you're saying this is new pain ie not immediately after injection that has lasted 7 days? If new pain then I would call your clinic for advice .It may just be dry eye ( which sterile soothing / artificial tears drops will help) but best to get the expert's advice.

Good Morning Quietly2

Is this pain that has just begun 7 days after and injection or pain that you have experienced for the past 7 days following injection?

In either case, please contact your eye clinic for advice and their information. If this is a singular occurrence then they may say there is nothing to be concerned about, however if this is something that happens on future appointments then they may be able to make your treatment more comfortable.

All the best,

Becky :)

Hello Becky, thanks for your reply and help. The pain was after 7 days, and a little worrying as I have had quite a few injections, with no problem. How ever I used the dry eye drops, more frequently and the problem went away. Thank you again I am very grateful for your help.
