Injection Update

Hi Everyone. Today I went for my injection which is every 2 months. Precautions were tighter than last visit. This time I had to ware a mask. I hated it, it seemed so difficult to breath. Cannot imagine having to work all day wearing a mask. Last visit I only had injection but this time I had OCT scan and chart test. I had not taken my varifocal glasses as they didn’t do a test last time and I don’t usually wear them for walking around. With having implanted lens due to cataract operations, my sight overall was pretty good until WAMD struck about a year later. I digress. When I said I didn’t have my glasses, I was told to use the pinhole gadget. I cannot believe how much better I could see the chart. I have used it before but with glasses on it was clumsy and didn’t seem any better. I couldn’t wait for my eyes to clear so I could get on the internet and read about pinholes. I see you can actually buy pinhole glasses. I have never seen anything mentioned about these glasses - am I getting excited about nothing!!

Even with the check up, I was in and out in 20 minutes. I wonder if things will be back to normal in 2 months time? X

Hi Bobby. I'm glad you've had yours and that everything is well. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the pinholes, I feel exactly the same about it. I shall be wearing a mask on Thursday too (if they don't cancel it) if it arrives on time. I ordered one twelve days ago but haven't received it yet even though it was supposed to have been posted on 15 May. I was told this morning by the optometrist at the hospital that there would be no scans etc next Thursday, just the injection and go. I wish they were going to do it so that they could see how bad it is. Wow, in and out within twenty minutes, that must be a first. My quickest time last time was about 40 minutes but I had to wait twenty minutes for the doctor to arrive as I was the first appointment. Hope your husband has improved some. Take care. xx

Hi Bobbie, my hubby has his own pair of pinhole specs he bought years ago from Ebay. He's actually wearing them now to watch TV ( with his cataract he says he sees better with pinhole than his varifocals).

We got them initially because there was an article that said something like wearing them 20mins a day strengthened eye muscles and improved sight because of that, reducing need for stronger specs. No idea if true, I posted a q to mac soc here about it, cant recall their answer, I'll try to find it.

Thanks for the reply Eyesright. I also read that it could improve muscles. As they only appear to work at a certain distance, such as TV watching, probably not a huge benefit to me as I’ve become so used to not watching TV. I watch the odd program I’m interested in, on my iPad.

However, my hubby has developed double vision in 1 eye and has had several accidents as a result. The hospital, after a telephone consultation, sent him an eye patch. It arrived a week ago and only today have I managed to persuade him to try it. It works! But of course he doesn’t like it! I wonder how many people do? I think the pinhole specs would be worth him trying for TV. I must get him to persevere with patch for moving around, It could cut down on the accidents. xx

Help Eyesright - where do I find newsfeed? xx

in reply toBobbie915

Click the house symbol on the header bar, newsfeed is on the left hand side, should show as underlined. This post will probably be at the top then count down 5 posts to the pinhole one ( says it's from 4yrs ago) x
