My mother-in-law is 68 years old and is a diabetic patient. She is finding difficulties in reading the newspapers, books and even the small print on the TV as it seems blurry to her. She mentioned to me that she was suffering cloudy vision. It seems to be the symptoms of cataracts. My mother-in-law attended diabetic eye screening tests and with the results, we visited a cataract surgeon in Toronto( herzig-eye.com/procedures/c....
He told my mother-in-law needs cataract surgery. But she is afraid of the consequences if the surgery goes wrong. Had anyone done cataract surgery from here? Was it painful? Did you get the desired results? How much is the recovery time? Please do share your experiences and opinions.
Thanks!

Hi, I'm in uk so can't comment on having surgery where you are but just to say mine wasnt painful at all. They were extremely careful to ask as they went along and as soon as I said felt a bit of pressure ( no pain ) they immediately topped up anaesthetic. In fact they must have known as they asked precisely at that point.
Of course there can be probs with any surgery but really, if you can't see unless you have it done then what are you risking losing? That's how I felt anyway. However, I shan't have other eye done until absolutely necessary
Recovery was fine though lots of drops and a long wait for new specs.
I had surgery in my right eye, and can honestly say, it made a big difference to me. I am in Uk, but feel sure it is much the same in any modern country. I wish I could have the other eye done. Unfortunately it is too badly Damaged by Wet macular degeneration to obtain a good result. There was no pain whatsoever and after care quite simple. Please don’t worry and do go ahead. Patricia
