I have the same problem and feel I need to go to the opticians but am being told at the eye clinic to leave it. I will ask again next time I go for my injection

I don’t think that will help as prescriptions are individual, you just have to decide if your glasses are as much help as they used to be. And talk to your optometrist, I have refused to have small changes in the past

That's the answer I usually get from the opticians..its frustrating g as I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall. Any sort of indication on Amd progression and glasses prescriptions would be helpful..however small a snippet...thank you for your response se though. Appreciated.

The thing is, the AMD, or in my case MMD, is happening on the retina at the back of the eye and the specs are correcting what the lens gets up to at the front, If you think of it as like a cinema, the lens + specs are the projector and the retina + MD are the screen. So although there’s a connection between the two, there’s no obvious correlation between.a change in one and a change in the other

Having said which, if your MD is near the fovea you may find varifocals don’t work very well, and even need changing more often, as you become less able to tfollow down the change in focal length, and you might do better with old-fashioned bifocals or even separate distance and reading specs. When I was fully short sighted my distance correction was -12D, which is the heck of a lot, and I didn’t find that the distance correction was affected by MD. As I lose fine detail it seems to become more important to have the correct prescription for close working like reading and computer screens. I’m no longer short sighted as I had implanted lenses when my cataracts were done, but I still need specs and don’t notice the prescription varying

I really think the reason you aren’t getting answers is because there aren’t any

I went two years between new glasses , having been told at my last visit to consultant that my eye test showed I could do with new ones, so duly bought new glasses, which are a slight improvement .

In the uk they always said wait until the treatment is finished but as it never

Is unless you get to the point where nothing more can be done, I can't see

The reason for that advice.

I have no idea what my prescription is, no one ever says.

Hope this might be helpful. HAppy New Year

You should be given a written copy of your prescription, and you can ask if you don’t understand it

I have lined trifocals. I have been on Avastin for 18 months until it stopped working & have now been on Eylea for 20 months. I have my prescription checked once a year to see if new glasses would help. The script I got in 2016 is still the best for my eyes, so the doctor tells me each year that I do not need to buy new glasses with a new script. The Eylea has returned my vision to where I was in 2016, but it is not getting any better than that. I am thankful that my eyes are not getting worse as the Eylea seems to be keeping me stable at 20/40 in USA measurement with my glasses. Prior to 2016, when the WMD started, my vision was corrected to 20/20 with classes, but now I am just thankful to be at 20/40 with Eylea that has stopped the degeneration from getting worse.

Having let my left eye go thinking it was solar retinopathy or CSR, when my right eye started to go, I went to an optician's that did fundus photos. There I was told that they could not provide me with a prescription because the eye was unstable and the prescription necessary was changing all the time they were trying to ascertain it.

So, to the hospital, Eylea injections for 18 months, and then back to the opticians for new glasses. The thing is, they only slightly increased my prescription. I sought of find that odd, since to read food ingredients on packaging, I tend to use an old pair of specs as a magnifying glass, and reading standard printed text is a slow, almost painful, process. I really need to have the text in bright sunlight (or under an arc lamp!?), although, obvious;y, I can use a good desktop computer monitor. (Text tends to flow in from the right as if from nowhere, and I often miss digits on the right of a long number when I go to write them down, but that's probably a different problem.)

Current, June 2019, prescription:

Right: +5.00

Inter: Add 1.75

Near: Add 2.50

Cyl: -0.75

Axis: 150

Aided Vision – Dist: 6/12 Inter: N18 Near: N8

Prescription March 2017:

Right distance: +4.75

Right near: +7.00

Cyl: -0.5

Axis: 160

So just an increase of +0.5 for reading with AMD. Right eye started going mid-January last year, i.e. just coming up to two years ago.
